RE: Bashing of the Kadet Seniors
I forgot to say that I am installing a Saito .82 engine. That should be fun. I am planning to use the plane for a trainer. I still have a way to go before solo.)

The landing gear for the taildrager should be in line with the leading edge of the wing. If it is set where it should be for the nose wheel, it wheel nose over on you.

Hey guys, It's been a while since I posted. I am bashing my Senior into a taildragger. Do I need to relocate the main landing gear, or modify it?
Thanks !

Yes you do need to relocate the main landing gear forward. If not its gonna fall on its nose all the time and make it hard to keep props on it.
The main gear must be moved forward so the tires footprint is roughly even with the leading edge of the wing. Some prefer it just behind the leading edge as this tends to help prevent the landing bouncys but also requires vilgilent use of the elevator while taxi is under way and especilly during takeoff.

Thank you. I moved them just ahead of the "C" reference on the fusalage. That should work. Hopefully the landings won't be too bouncy!
I left the original block in the fusalage, and made a new mounting block. A little extra weight in a trainer shouldn't be too crucial...
This plane has a reputation for being a little tail heavy anyway.

RE: Bashing of the Kadet Seniors
Here are some pictures showing my latest progress. I think I'm getting close to being ready to cover ( Monokote).
I have 2 rolls of yellow, 1 Missle Red, 1white, 1 black, and 1 Midnight blue. I haven't developed a color scheme yet, but I know that the yellow is great for visibility.
This is my first build, and I am learning a lot (mostly patience).

I like the side mounted motor. (See my pic at post #74) What all did you motify? I am running a Saito 100 and wished I would have went with the 125.

RE: Bashing of the Kadet Seniors
I decreased the wing dihedral to make it a straight wing, reduced the wing length by one bay on each side, added some extra sheeting to the top of the wing, added "anerexia 1/4" spars to the wing, changed to a bolt-on wing configuration, added barn door airerlons, and turned it into a tail dragger. Since I want to use it as a trainer, and this is my first build in over 40 years, I didn't want to get too wild!![8D]
The next thing to do is begin sanding and balancing before starting the covering process.
The biggest challange is going to be working the covering into a a nicely finished product. If I take my time, I should be O.K.
I am really starting to anticipate it's maiden flight.
Fortunately, I do have a Nexstar ready if the flying season gets here before I finish the bash.

RE: Bashing of the Kadet Seniors
It has been a while since I posted. I have been too busy in the shop!!
The bash is done & the bird is ready to take her maiden flight! ( When the field dries up, and the weather cooperates).
I also found a unmodified kit and put a EVO .52NX in it. I thought it might be fun to fly a 3 channel plane as a comparison.
Here are photos of the completed project and the "old" bird, too. [8D][8D]

WOW.....a .91.... you may never get it to land...lol. I have a Magnum 52 4 cycle on mine. I mainly fly it with floats at float flys....plenty of power and still floats like a feather. I have a large ''drop door'' built into the bottom rear cabin area....mainly drop ''sky divers''. One of the funnest ''slow puttin around'' planes ever!!!
