I'm kind of excited. I figured out how to set the ailerons to neutral while setting up the servo pushrods. On the plans there is a sideview of the wing that I copied and glued to some foam board. Carefully cutting it out with my Dewalt scroll saw, I can slip it over the wing and the airerons are held in the neutral position. It's as close to neutral that I'm ever going to get them, and if necessary, I can adjust with the clevis. Weird how we figure things out.

Tom, that is a great idea for holding the ailerons in a neutral position while setting them up.

When I set mine up, particularly the first time, I clamped popsicle sticks to both sides of the ailerons where they would run forward over the wing and hold the aileron more or less at center. Then for fine tuning I use printouts of the ribs with center line ---taped to the tip of the wing and use a scale (ruler) to line up the aileron.

I though I had a picture of the popsicle sticks clamped on but could not find it.
Post 549 shows a picture using the printout on the tips with a scale(ruler).

Default Aileron neutral tool

It just slides over the wing and holds the aileron in the neutral position. I'm still going to set them with a small level on horizontal stab and aileron.

So I get to the field. All has been checked at home. Lateral & longitudinal balance. High and low rates checked and rechecked. Engine run on the plane done the day before. Batteries topped off. Great weather at the field, 70's, almost no wind. Window of opportunity opens up between the other guys. It's time. 8 1/2 months ago I started this project. Now the moment of flight has arrived. It's the maiden, I'm not really worried, I've done this before. Even did some extra simulator time last night. It flies great! On low rates, it's a ***** cat. OK, it's a flat wing hot rod, but no bad tendencies. High rates, I'll get used to it. It is a good flier. I'll have to post a couple of photos.

Tom,
Great news on the maiden....It’s always a good feeling to get those out of the way successfully.
I agree that these are great – fun – flying little airplanes.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of your plane added to all the uproars on these pages.

Now that the maiden is out of the way on a calm day...Here is an example of what they can do in the wind:

Almost wrecked it at 1:45 on the video

Tom,
Your Uproar looks good....
I like the unique scheme that you came up with
Your AMA number is shorter than mine..Unless of coarse, that is your zip code

Thanks for the compliment. Yeah I'm an old dude A.M.A. 76537. Makes for cutting out my numbers a little easier.

I ran across the post/pictures of the "popsicle stick clamp" for holding ailerons close, while building linkages

Yeah, that's good. It's tricky because as you know, the bottom of the wing is flat and the top curved. So getting the ailerons at neutral for servo pushrod installation isn't easy. So, that's how I came up with my alignment tool. Like you say, you have to get it close, then later on adjust with the clevis. Once I had my pushrods connected, I checked with a level that the ailerons were neutral and level compared to the horizontal stabilizer.

Even cutting my own wood I don't think I could cut the kit for that. The kit also has the canopy and hardware plus landing gear too as I recall.
That's the best deal I have seen in???? Well, ever!!!

Well, I had to read the latest posts in this thread. Read the info on the good deal on this kit so i am ordering a kit tomorrow. I haven't built a kit since the late 70's or early 80's. I'll see how this build goes. Guess I will find out what the Uproar is about this airplane. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, Cliff, daddyo57 built the 60. Any questions you can PM him or we can tell him to come back onto this thread for you.

Hey there Larry,
There have been some post in this thread about the Uproar 60.
Daddyo57 posted quite a bit about his “Roarasaurus”. I am not sure if he still checks in on this thread.

ET,
For $35 you can’t hardly go wrong. Certainly is a straightforward build and can be completed pretty quickly.
Without a doubt it is an “UPROAR” to fly.

Ammonium perchlorate,

Nice Job on that Uproar of yours! Have you flown it yet?
Did you cut the logo out of the covering material or have them cut in vinyl? “Tower” should be proud.
