I flew a full scal T-6 done in Blue Angels colors. I have fotos and video of that experience if you wish to see them. If for any reason you elect NOT to build this plane and care to sell it tome, please let me know.

RE: Flair AT-6 Texan / Harvard Build
well after checking out the plans, i am going to have to do some seriouse mods to get the retracts to work, the plan shows not a thing about retracts, and if i want them in the scale location il have to seriousley mode the center section and also the fus. This is however not going to put me off the idea but i will be making some very big adjustments to the model and i simply cant wait. just wish the dam batery would hurry up[:@]

RE: Flair AT-6 Texan / Harvard Build
Well the build has started.
heres the pics from the first step of the planes construction in sequence, it is the tank box.
as you can see from the pictures, i reinforced the tank box by fitting some tri stock balsa to the inner edges and the outer edges were applicable.
i have the fuselage sides sat doubled up under pressure waiting to dry, i also have part 6 which is a former under the press with both parts 7 also drying. once dry i will comence with the assembly of the fuselage.
incedently i have created alittle press by using 2 2ft by 2ft sheets of wood and just plonked my band saw ontop to weight the whole thing down. that should see them come out nice and string and straight.

RE: Flair AT-6 Texan / Harvard Build
well i fraimed up the front of the fus which was suprisingly quite a fast process. i have also managed to build one rear half of the fus, it is built up in a traditional way using lots of stringers. i have alot of photos to upload in a few minutes so these will show how well the build is going[8D]

At the rate you are building this plane, I don't see how you could have time to get "...ALITTLE.." But you are doing a great Job and keep the build fotos coming. I am looking for my T6 "Blue Angels" full size fotos to send along. It was a few years ago, but I never throw anything like that away; I just can't find them right away sometimes.
Best regards for a Merry Christmas to You and Yours.
Sincerely,
Richard

RE: Flair AT-6 Texan / Harvard Build
thanks guys the coments are appreciated too. iv managed to buikld the other side of the fus at the rear, im just in the process of fitting the two rear halfs together over the plan and inserting the top and bottom braces. once thats set up il be able to join the rear half to the front some time tonight and get some more formers onto the airframe. its quite a quick build if you have some experiance with these kits. i do allot of scratch designing so i find things like this intresting. will put some more pictures up later for you all

RE: Flair AT-6 Texan / Harvard Build
Hi, could the plane be scratch built just from the plans? If so, I would like a copy of the plans after you have finished, or anytime for that matter. I am happy to pay reasonable reproduction costs. Even smaller scale copies would be ok as I can scan, put into CAD and print to any size I need. Thanks and good job on the build. Do take time to get "... ALITTLE..." to keep everthing in balance. :-)

RE: Flair AT-6 Texan / Harvard Build
well the plans are just diagrams, there are ful size drawings of the rear of the fus but none of the front section, and i also have full size plans for the wing...... BUT i kept all the part sheets so i could reproduce formers and sides to the fuz and all the wing ribs, the only thing that will be slightly tricky is the fact the lightning hole push outs would have to be placed over the drawing template for the new parts and then traced around. i also have a spare ali cowl and half a spare set of plastic vac formed parts and a spare cannopy and a set of origional flair wheels and under cariges, so in theory if i remade the parts i could build another full model if of coarse i bought all the wood to do so.
Now what i want to do is make a mold of the cannopy and cowl so i could reproduce the part if needed in the future same goes for all the plastics. If you are intrested i could in fact draw up an inventory of all the parts required on paper and i have a spare set of plans minus one sheet out of the 7 sheets. but with the one that is missing i could scan the one i got with this kit. it is a shame this kit is no longer available and if you or anyone else is intrested i may be able to reproduce the cowl in fiberglass, but someone else would have to reproduce the canopy.
so if intrested i could once molds have been made provide you with plans an inventory of parts you need to trace out onto the wood. and just maybee a set of vac form parts. u/c if you needed that too unless your fitting retracts like i am.
PM me and we can talk further if you like

RE: Flair AT-6 Texan / Harvard Build
got quite abit done actualy, il have to upload the pics tomorow, about 30 of them if not more.
so far rear outer formers have been fitted and all the stringers are now in place. oh yeah the front of the fus has all its stringers also in place, the turtle deck has had its formers fitted also aswell as the single stringer ontop of the spine.
tomorows plan, sheet the fus and start with the tail and fin, the hard part and longest part of this build is going to be the center section, thats going to be one hell of a job to fit retracts to. it will have to be redesigned and most likely new ribs cut for the entire center section, then that can be fitted to the fus and fastend and glued in place, then it will be the wing pannels port and star board to build, slight mods to them but its just a case of making them removable from the fixed center section.

RE: Flair AT-6 Texan / Harvard Build
G’day Crash.
I picked up a full kit on eBay, the fuse was half built but had some damage to the stick work of the back half & had to be stripped back to the front section. I’m going to bash it into a CA16 Wirraway, with retracts, so I’m very interested in how you did yours. I’ll post pics when I get some work done on it, but at the moment the project is on hold for the next month or so. I'll be watching how you go with yours so keep reporting progress & posting picks.
Cheers Buz.
