Matt,

I used Ultracote on everything. It is very easy for me sinch I am by no meanb an expert.

Paul, I'm sure she will slow down a lot more, especially with flaps. just didn't want to take any chances on the maiden...

VCScott, here is what happens when you forget about those light poles

Make sure you change the video settings to 1080P HD, turn up the sound and watch it in full screen to get the full effect.

Oops!

I've hit trees a couple of times with similar results, lots of damage!

Nice field but odd light locations. Was your field once a parking lot?

It's good to see you flying your Super Chipmunks, I haven't seen a Chippy anywhere I fly for over 20 years.

Some day I'll get my 3rd GB Chipmunk put together and post pics in this thread.

Have fun and keep them flying.

Scott,

Our field is actually on the county fairgrounds property. As such, they use our field for overflow parking during the fair so the poles are probably going to stay.

There are several chippys flying at our field. It is a great plane!!

Can’t wait to see yours.

LOL the Maiden went well, the second flight wound up not so good, nearly lost the plane, literally, engine quit and the wind carried it away a 1/2 mile before it made a not so pretty landing on its back. Maybe in a month or two it will be flying again, when I feel like fixing the covering.

Mine is same set up w OS91. I really don't like the engine to be honest. Maybe I got a lemon. But I've not enjoyed similar experiences. A YS or Saito would make it better.

Here is my Chipmunk with a Saito FA-80 running a MAS 13x6x2 prop. I'm going to try a 13x8x2 prop soon.
It would be more fun with a little more power. Flaps are not needed at all with this plane.

UPDATE
The 13x8x2 MAS prop was too much for it. The speed was good, but the acceleration was poor.
I'm guessing the 13x6x2 is the best performing prop for the Saito FA80...

Okay I know it has been a while and who knows if anyone is still watching this thread but here are some pics of my Chipmunk. I now have 3 flight on it. When I landed on the last flight the gear blocks broke loose and now I have to do some work. didn't really hirt the plane to much, I should be abel to get it back in the air in the next week or so. She flew great. I have the OS 95 V in her. plenty of power.

Very nice I bought one that is about ready to cover last winter.
I'm not sure what possessed me to buy one that way, because roughing planes in is what I consider the most fun part.
