Here's mine completed. Flys great a little torque on take-off so you need a little rudder. I have a Quadra 35 Mag, not overpowed but good power for scale flight..

Hi Gulpster, I'm trying to keep the weight down on mine but I considered copying the setup on my mustang wing.

No mate, I'm still going, almost finished the top wing.
I haven't put any pics of mine up yet as it's not very interesting so far.

Hey good to her from you 3136. Have you built the fuse yet? I went to install my bottom wing and it would fit in the wing sadle. it was to big from front to back so instead of sanding down the wing. I put a small notch in the fuse former. Mine is coming along nice, these kits just fall together. Talk to you later Ewan

Hey guys. I had some very early posts, but am still working on mine also. I am a bit slow as my list of "honey-do's" keeps me busy. Fuse is framed, wings done, and am finishing up the tail feathers. No pictures either as nothing interesting that we haven't all already seen. Getting ready to stain the deck and apply the aluminum sheeting. Ordered servos, got a new radio, etc. Debating on how much cockpit detail to include. Some of these posts are incredible.

Muskoka dad
Hey, I have just started a Pup build, and thought it was time to chime in.
I too found that the chord of the lower wing ends up about 1/8 " longer than the saddle. Had me scratching my head for a bit. I thought about notching the former, but by the time you create a notch deep enough you will be though the 1/8" thickness, taking all it's strength I could not see were that former was going to be robust enough to hold wing dowels anyway, so I cut away were it interfered with the leading edge and installed a piece of 1/4" liteply glued to the front of the former and the fuse side doublers. This creates a place for the dowels and enough strength to hold them.
I didn't check if this has been adressed in this thread earlier, but I've attached some pictures to show what I did.

Guys, those setups are awesome and the finished work is amazing. Currently Im planning on this plane being a learning experience. Ive nearly finished with a mockup of the rear of the plane so I can practice Pull Pull riggings. Dual sides for the elevator, single for the rudder. Seriously leaning toward the trainer Zebra stripped covering for the trainer configuration. Im hitting up Arizona Models for a scale cockpit and have a fella that makes doll house furniture do the leather around the cockpit lip. Probably going Zenoah G28 or a Quadra 35. Ewan, slow doesnt bother me so much. Got winter about to make its presence and I have a bunch of building boards you can set in your lap ready with cut up copies of the blue prints tacked down. Building will be in front of a large screen TV with Fire roaring in the hearth....lol. Kids and Wifey will be in bed at that point...ROFL.

Hey senrak i like the idea of the extra ply in the front, i think aim going to do the same.  As for the longer chord
iam glad it wasn't me, i thought i did something wrong and no mentioned it earlier  or i would have done something
to fix it then.  I am of to buy longer drill bits .  You also look like we are at the same point in the build.

Talk to you guys later   Ewan

Hi Ewan, Nah I haven't done the fuse yet, just finished the top wing, just about to start the second wing.

I bought a cockpit kit, brass plates, and a pilot from mick reeves http://www.mickreevesmodels.co.uk/~m...es/p2bipe.html

I also bought a williams bros machine gun from some bloke on ebay U.S.A.

I bought the solartex from some pomme on ebay too. It's hard stuff to get in Australia.

Hey there3136 you should have said you needed some solartex, i would off hand delivered it.  We are going to get pounded with a foot of snow
and 70km winds tonight.  I don't mind it as long as we don't lose power.
Anyway on a brighter note i added two layers of ply to beef up the front area for the dowels, wow what a difference.
Thank you senrak  for that.
I got more done today than i thought, got all the ply glued on the fuse.   Its  starting to look like  something.
I will post some pics soon.

Does any one that is going to install the g23 or g26 have the weight ?  I have a 170 saito radial for mine but now have
second thoughts, it might be to light  compared to the g motors.

Later guys     Ewan

Hi Ewan,

I will use the G26 in mine. Total engine weight is 53oz. I know some additionnal weight is needed in the nose with that engine.

Horizon lists the weight of a G26 at about 60 oz. (1700 grams), but if you have a 170 radial, why would you ever consider anything else. There is nothing more realistic. I have been looking at a new Syssa 180. http://www.syssaaircraft.net/index.html. I like what I have seen so far and it is American made, so I may pull the trigger this week.

Hey guys thanks for the weight of the engines.  My saito weighs 3lbs exact and 60 oz werks out  to 3and 3quarter lbs. I don't have my keleo
muffler yet so that should add more weight.

Senrak  my concern was the saito was to light, and i didn't want to add to much ballast.  I know the sound of a four  stroke would be amazing.
I flew a se5a with a 72four stroke that sounded amazing.  Guys in my club would stop and watch and coment how  it sounded.
That was my go to plane this summer.

Hi Everyone,

Is anyone installing a tail wheel rather than the skid? Any recommendations for flying this on asphalt runways? Will the skid handle ok? Any recommendations on a tail wheel system? I have never installed a pull/pull system.

-Muskoka, if you want the sound of a 4-stroke, by all means put your Saito in your Pup; just mount the counter balance weight as far forward as you can. My old US 25 gas engine weighed about 4 1/2 lb, but my Pup balanced perfectly with that motor. If I had used a lighter motor, I still would need the extra weight, so the overall weight would have been the same regardless. Obviously it also pays to keep all the structure aft of the CG as light as possible, especially the tail feathers. You don't need to beef up the tail.
-KDBrown, since my plane is "sport" scale, I used a Sullivan tail wheel assembly. It was easy to install and has held up well over the years. For me, it was the only way to go on an asphalt taxi way and run way. I did paint it olive drab to match the fuse to help hide it a bit though.

Hi KDBrownn,

For the tail wheel, look at that forum:

http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/forum/...454&PN=1&TPN=2

Also I have installed a pull/pull system on my Piper cub that could work:

http://www.greathobbies.com/producti...od_id=SIGSH730

Bye!
