Default glassing CG Super Chipmunk

hi - i've decided to glass my CG Super Chipmunk so will be skinning the wings and fuse - i've just been to the shop to get some 1/16 balsa wood sheeting but they stock 1/32 would the thinner material be better from the weight point of view or is it too thin ? i'm guessing once it's glassed it will be strong enough - thanks

Thinner is better, but you will be adding significant weight sheeting the whole thing.

The problem with 1/32 is, after you have it glued down and start to block sand it smooth, you don't have much wood to work with and it will be super thin or even sanded through in some high spots. Even when I sheet with 1/16 some spots are easy to put my finger through.

Why not glass the fuse, put cloth on the wing and paint the whole plane May save time and troube and have the same results.

And save some weight !!! I built a Chippy & sheeted the wings & it made it a slug on aileron rolls. By the time it makes a complete roll, it seems like I have time for a smoke & a beer!! Well, it may not be quite that bad, but it is slow. Maybe I did something wrong.
