Hi everybody,
Thanks for the CG suggestion on the Ultrasport 1000. I never thought about checking the CG on the plane. When I first got the plane from a club member, he was flying it at the field to show me how nicely it flew. He landed, pulled his receiver, I put my receiver, took off and have been loving the Ultrasport series of planes ever since. It never occured to me that he might not have set the CG correctly (or slightly too nose heavy to be more exact). I need to build a Vanessa Rig so I might do that this weekend.
Happy flying and soft landings!

Gas... Now there's a real consideration. You might want to wait a bit. There are a few companies coming out with gassers converted from 60ish glow engines that might be just what you're looking for

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***
Hi everyone,
I was lucky enough to buy the last US40 from my HS after the kit was discontinued. After reading through this thread, I can't wait to get it in the air and find out what everyone is raving about. If it flies half as good as the impression I get, I'll be a happy camper .
I plan to install a OS 55AX, and possibly convert to a tail dragger with mechanical retracts. Does this engine sound like a good choice?
Also, I'd like to sign up to the Brotherhood....does anybody know what the next available number is?
Thanks

The only problem I have had with the system is the carb wearing out on the motor and not finding any available. So it hasn't flown in a couple of years.

You will love it! It is a fun build. Not too difficult but enough work to keep you busy for awhile. Mine took two winters of on again, off again building. Get a razor plane and lots of sandpaper and then read some of the great build threads in this forum. A 55ax would be perfect. I'd try an APC 10x8 prop on it. Mine has a 46ax with a 10x7 and it goes like a bat out of hell. People are always asking me "you got a 60 in that thing"? A 55 should make it go good if you prop it right.

Yukon, I see the last number grabbed up was 75, so that would make you #76 I believe (unless someone we DON'T know about is claiming it.
Being up in the YT, you must have a great LOOOOOONG building season!

Thanks RJ,
You've got that right. About 8 months to build 'em only leaves 4 months to crash (I mean fly) them. Plus hopefully a few nice winter days to put on the skis.

I have a question for you guys, a friend of mine is looking for the U.S. 40 plane either in kit form or built so i have been calling several hobby shops in my area and to no avail none of them has one in their inventory so i wanted to send out a question to the community to see if someone knows of a shop or person that has one for sale either in kit form or built but the built version will have that shipping issue so i just wanna entertain to see what anyone has, but if i can find a kit and someone is willing to let it go that is the way i wanna go. Any input from you guys and gals is appreciated.

Does anyone know how much longer Tower will have the Ultra Sport 60 kit?
I may be wrong, but I believe they are no longer being made from GP.

Well the 40 is all gone now and they are not making any more. So I think once current stock of the 60's runs out it will be gone too. It's too bad. I built a 40 when they were available and I have a 60 squirreled away for when I eventually crash my 40. I wish now I had bought another 40 kit because the 40 fits perfectly in my suv with the wing on!

The Ultra Sport 60 isn't slated for discontinuation as of now. There are several in stock, and there is an order for more from the plant. However, if sales can't keep up, production can't continue.

I'm still building on one, but It will be nice to have a kit to build a few years down the line. (or sooner, depending on how well I fly this one. )

I believe there are pdf's of instruments in many places at RCU. Do a search, I can guarantee something will show up.
I believe you could put something together and create your own instrument panel. They can be really complex or simple. I like seeing creative displays myself. Show us what you end up with.
I have went back to work finishing mine up. I am airfoiling the horizontal and adding anhedral. It ought to be interresting.

A little update on my US-60 twin fuselage. The 2 fuselage are about 80% done, Iwould have more done but still have farm things to do before the first snow, I should say first big snow we had our first snow last week. I have the ribs done for the wing center section, made them out of 3/16 lauan pylwood, the weight of the plywood rib was about .03 oz more than the kit rib. $10 for a 4 x 8 foot sheet and lite. I was going to glass the plane but change my mind and am going to try liquid sheeting from Wowplanes, cost about $20 to do the plane. I have added a few pictures of what I have done along with my helper who I was bottle feeding 4 months ago after finding him in the barn with no mother.

A am sorry Brothers as I have been pretty busy. I let the list of all the Brotherhood fall behind a bit. Things have been pretty busy for me at work the last couple of weeks and I haven't had as much time online as I would like. I'm back now, so here is an updated copy of the US Brotherhood!!
I had a pretty interesting PM conversation with AJsToys. He was thinking about maybe a 15cc or 17cc gasser on a US60. That could be interesting if he can get it to fit in there. I'm interested in the results of his project. That also has me thinking about maybe a gasser on a US 1000. I have 2 of the kits and I may just play with this idea a bit this winter. That could be interesting.
