Here she is!
My interpretation of a modern US60 w/o retracts. As you can see cockpit has been moved back and LG have been mounted to the fuse with wheel pants. You US purists out there may not like it, but i think it turned out damn sexy. Had to mount the 5 cell battery pretty far back to balance her as you can see by the hatch due to the OS 75AX. I am a slow builder, only Friday and Saturday nights after kids get to bed; I've got a 4 and 2 year old. If i am traveling for work during the week Wifey's not too happy if i choose to work on the plane when I'm home for the weekend. I did manage to drink a lot of Yuengling throughout the build however.
Very well played, I love the look....... Be sure to post some pics when she is dressed..........

Nice. What program did you use for that?

Beautiful work, What program do you use to plane your covering scheme?  I once barely scratched the top of the horizontal stab while trimming the excess covering next to the vertical stab.(I didn't know that I had scratched it until the post crash investigation. It broke off sttaring at the point where I had scratched it. I knew to be extremely careful, but!!!

Believe it or not i used Autocad. I scanned the drawing on the back of the build manual then converted it to an ACAD drawing. When you convert pdf's to ACAD you get a bunch of garbage. At least the overall shape of the plane was there so i just kind of traced over it with lines, arc, splines, etc. Then i drew the geometry for the scheme and solid hatched the areas. I can share the ACAD plane outline drawing if anyone is interested.

Very well done mods and a nice color scheme. I will be interested to hear how it affects knife-edge maneuvers.

I would like to have the dwg file. If you could email it to me, that would be great.

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for the compliments. Here is my covering scheme.
I like what you have done with your 60. I am building a stretch US 60 this winter. Had my RCM plans recopy to 115% got my 115% wing from Eureka Aircraft. I am going to copy your plane in my build. Did you make your landing gear or buy it ? I will be using an OS120AX with RCEXL ignition on it.

The landing gear are from a 1/4 scale GP RV-4. They needed to be tweaked of course for the look and fit I was going for.

Fantastic job. I sent you a PM with my email address for the ACAD outline.

Confession time.......thanks to life, having to do shift work for a living, and the hottest and driest summer I can recall, I just got to fly that pretty little ultra that's been living in my garage for the last 6 weeks. I have to tell you guys, there is no doubt about why y'all (we) love this plane so much! I got the maiden in at about 8 mph winds which were right down the runway. Control was so perfect straight from lift off that the gear went up and I started throwing the plane around on my second pass. That was exactly what I need after not being able to fly for the last 6 weeks. Thanks to MINN and KEN for getting this plane re-kitted, it just reminded me of why I learned to fly in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's awesome jp. That's exactly why I loved my first Ultra Sport and why I had to have another. Mine is still on the building board, patiently waiting for me to get back to it. Probably won't get to fly it until around Christmas. HEY! CHRISTMAS IS COMING! Hmmmm.......Maybe I should start throwing hints around early.........Excuse me honey, could you please pass me the Ultra Sport 60, I'm sorry, I meant the butter......

Got both the US 60 and SuperSportster 60 in the kit stash, thanks to Ken and Mike for the US lobbying.

You're welcome... but to be honest, it was all because of the selfish reason that WE wanted new ones

Don't want to brag but this year so far I built the Super Sportster 60 then the Ultra Sport 60 and now have the Extra 60 on the building table. So far though I like the US 60 best. I'll let you know about the Extra by Christmas at the rate I'm going. Very slow build.

You don't need a kit for the 1000, get build plans from RCM and order a foam wing and you are on your way.
