Why not just offset the weight with a larger motor? I oversize all my "Suggested Motor" sizing for that reason... Well, that's not the only reason...

I have all the covering off the wing of my 32 year old US60 so have started the recover. I have several spots of rotten wood in non structural areas, covered it with balsa rite.

Anyone know where to get a canopy for a US60? A rep from Hobbico said that Great Planes was not part of the Tower deal. She said for me to check the Tower website again next month, but someone always seems to know where to obtain something in this hobby

My canopy cracked bad

Thank you

Try Ebay, I see them on there from time to time. Even a canopy from a US 1k will work.

Hi guys, I am wondering since the Ultrasport and the Kaos have the same wing do these airplanes behave the same. I have a Tower Hobbies Kaos 40 Kit and and i recently aquired an GP UltraSport 60 kit. I am going to construct these two airplanes in the next year or two and I understand that the Kaos wing design was bought by GP in the 1980's any one care to comment on this. I am going to put a 46 AX in the Kaos and a 65 ax in the Ultrasport!
Thank You

I vaguely remember that they have the same wing too.

I put a .75 AX in my US60 but had to use a different motor mount as with the kit. I have another US 60 kit ready to build and would probably use the .65 AX

As our field is grass, my US60 is a tail dragger.

Post photos for us to see

Yes they have the same wing. However; the fuse and tail moment is different so the flight characteristics are as well. The US60 knife edge flight is way better, but does`nt spin as easy. I have built two from the original plan published in RCM way back.
I have owned kaos60 and a twetty bird 20 which is a 20 version of the kaos. I also like the looks of the US60 much better the kaos seemed unfinished to me, but flys super. I loved them all.

Hi, I am going to build both airplanes next year as right now I have to many things to get done before the end of the year! I've been playing with the perfect copy of the 40 size ultrasport in RF G3.5 and i love the responses and I understand that the real model will be different to say the least.
Thank You
Michael

Default Ultra Sport 60

Just completed my latest project. Ready for maiden. I used the Thunderbird scheme that others here have used including Minnflyer in his build thread many years ago before his passing. I came out nice. It was a good build. Thank goodness I still have another one in the box for later.

Looks great. Let us know how it flys. What motor are you using? Looks like a gold head

Successful maiden today. For the first time in my modelling career, no trim inputs needed, CG is spot on, throws are spot on. What a nice flying machine. Great day to fly. 4 flights total today.

Great looking plane at a great looking field.

I was just paging through some old magazines. For what it is worth, the GP US40 kit was reviewed in the July 1990 Model Airplane News. Bob and Earl Carpenter who reviewed it used a YS45 pumper with tuned pipe. Wonder if their plane is still around

This is my 32 year old (1100+ flights) ULTRA SPORT 60 after its recover. I also put a hatch in to change out batteries easier than taking the wing off. Its powered by a turnagy 5045-450 spinning a 12x10 on 6 cells.Back in the 90’s I had a king kobra with a high visibility green, red, and yellow camo scheme I called viso-flog. This is the only sport plane I have, unless you count the Skat Kat as a sport plane. All my other planes have camo schemes that look great on the ground but fly in silhouette, this camo scheme is visable even on cloudy days.
