If u want a set of plans I will copy them for u,copyright laws are made to be broken, on the otherside of things thinking maybe a moki 1.80 with a pipe might be a hoot to fly more like a lawn dart perhaps, retracts sound good but not on a grass field.

Lazer Works offer laser cut short kits for both the 60 and 1000 Ultrasports. I think you need to find your own set of plans, though.

http://lazer-works.com/rcm.html Here is the address for Lazer Works. The price for the 1000 is $151 it has a 74" WS. They also have a 60 size. On the Great Planes site under FAQ's they say they will copy any discontinued plans for $20 + $7.99 shipping. You can also download the manual under discontinued manuals.
I found the RCM Ultra Sport 1000 build article here.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/scra...ble-you-3.html.... It's a fun read.

It seems there has been a recent update to the RCM plans website, looks like they are back up and running.
https://www.rcmplans.com/index.php?m...oducts_id=1929

Statement from their home page.

"We wish to thank all of you for the privilege of having so many great customers over the past four years. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we were unable to fulfill many of your orders. We are now up and running and all plans have been refurbished.

With the problems that we had, we were locked out of our entire system. We were unable to access the admin portion of the website, emails, orders, etc. We have resolved the problems with our hosting company and updated our computer system. RCM Plans is very recently under new management and we hope to be up to speed in the next few weeks.

We will be refunding any money to those who do not want to wait for their plans. If someone chooses to receive the product that they ordered, we will also help them with this. We want to apologize profusely for any inconvenience to you.
As stated on our website, all entities that are producing any plans from R/C Modeler are doing so unlawfully and will be criminally responsible.

Thank you for your loyalty and patience. Best wishes to each and every one of you."

I just bought my second Ultra Sport kit, the 60... Last time I built the 1000 MANY years ago. I'd like to get another 1000 but wasn't smart enough to buy one the last time they released them. I saw recently the 40 was discontinued so I figured I better not wait and get the 60 before it's gone again too. So now I'm debating on what engine, I happen to have a spare (kinda) NIB YS 1.15 and setting it over the plans it looks like a great fit. But like others have said the Ultra Sport screams for a two stroke... Do I buy an OS 75 instead?

I've already decided to do flaps and retracts..

I agree that the Ultra Sport seems to fly best with a powerful 2 stroke but mine with a Saito 1.00 and a 13.5 X 9 fly's beautifully and will climb until it's out of sight. I think the YS 1.15 will be a great match, just watch out for prop clearance issues, you may need to go with a 3 blade prop.

I flew mine for years with an OS FS >91. It was a good combination.

Be careful. That message, or one very similar has been on the site for a couple of years. The sites security certificate is expired as well. Try emailing them for info before sending any money.

I had originally intended to put an OS .75 AX in mine but I had the Saito 1.00 on a Cessna that did not like it so I swapped the Saito for an OS 95v and put the Saito on the Ultra Sport. I'm glad that I did because I just love having the power of the Saito.

Yeah I just read a message on RCG that said the same thing, that nothing had changed as far as shipping the plans. I did notice that RCM had raised the prices though. I did send them an email but have yet to hear back from them.

Has anybody run one of the new generation gas motors? I'm thinking about the Evolution 15GX for my US60.. I've looked around and have not found where anyone has used a gas motor on an US.

I've got one on the building board right now US Brother SDCransford and we are planning for a DLE-30 in it. From my experience in the past with a US 1000 I'm pretty much expecting it to run like a raped ape!!!! Going with a gas engine gives us a great option of now moving the gas tank back inside the fuselage instead of right behind the engine where you have to have it on a glow engine. The only down side we can see so far is that we are probably going to have to run a 3-bladed prop on it.

Back in the day most of the US 1000 were flown on a 1.20 sized glow engine, so going with the DLE-30 is going to be over powering it. In fact, this is one reason why I feel the US 1000 never really sold as well as the US 60 did. The engine choices. Back in the days when the US 1000 first came out we were looking at strictly glow engines to fly this plane with, and with, and the cost of running a 1.08 or 1.20 glow engine really hit the wallet hard. So this plane just didn't sell as much as the 60 did. But now a DLE-30 with a 14 oz fuel tank will have enough fuel in to fly 4 or 5 flights depending on your style of flying.

Hope this helps

Ken

Was told at the field that the 30 size gas engines are finicky, and that the DA 50 runs the best ,

I have several DLE-30's and I've never had any problems with any of them. I haven't tried to see if the size of the DA 50 would fit on the front of a US 1000, but my first guess is going to be that it's going to be too big. And in all honesty it's really going to be too much engine for the Ultra Sport. There's no reason for over-powering it like that. You're not going to turn it into a 3-D plane no matter how much power you put in the nose of it. I would stick to around the 30cc range as the upper range. Remember, the plane was originally designed for around the 1.00-1.20 glow sized engines, which are in the 20cc gas range.

Hope this helps

These 4 bangers are beautiful engines and their sound is quite realistic.
Particularly the four strokes versions.

I sure wish I could afford one but from what I see the cost is well over $2,000.00 .

Are you talking just the engine or the whole plane?

It sounds like he thought a "4 banger" was a 4 cylinder. The only time I hear the term "4 banger" it's referring to a four cylinder car engine so I see what he's talking about. I think the person that originally said "4 banger" meant a four stroke engine.

"4-Banger", my dream engine. I want to build a 1/3 scale Ercoupe just for this engine. $1649.99, but hey! You get free shipping!
