Good Biplane Kit to Build
I am looking to build a nice .90 size or larger biplane and can't find any kits. Any recommendations? I would like the initial kit price to be around 200. Prefer a Pitts.

I don't know of any currently available kits, so you may have to track down an out of production kit. The Midwest Pitts Super Stinker comes up here in the classified ads and on ebay with some regularity. Very nice kit, goes together well. On ebay they generally go for around $200.

Take a look at the Sig Hog Bipe. I've seen a few of them fly and they are a good flying plane. Sig still shows them on the current plane list, but I don't know if they are shipping kits just now. If you can get one, you would enjoy it though.

I have been waiting for almost 6 months for SIG to get their kits cut and mailed. They should be done very soon if you order the hog straight from them.

you could look into short kits that are laser cut. The andrews aeromaster is a pretty nice biplane and it can be bought as a short kit here:

that reminds me, I do know someone who has a 1/6 scale picca waco that he wants to sell. The last time I checked though he wanted something like $200 - $250 dollars for it.

I'd go for it!
Let me qualify that statement:
I'd go for it! (If I had the funds to do so.)

There is always the build from plans route. Kind of a kit without wood. It gives you a lot more options.

I second the Phaeton 90 choice. Looks like a beauty.

SACKRC has a 1/5 scale Pica Waca NIB for sale. Look at post 10731 in the Waco thread.

RE: Good Biplane Kit to Build
I figured you had already looked at it , but I posted it just incase.
I built a GP Ultimate .40 a few years ago, really like the way it flew, but it was just to small for me. I have been kicking around the idea of having the plans enlarged up to a .90 1.20 size and hand cutting or contacting a kitcutter about cutting a kit.
What do you think about an Ultimate bipe ?

I agree with your. The Ultimate is a little small. I went with the Phaeton 90. 143 shipped is a good price. Tower has a special on orders of 149 or greater but I didn't see anything I liked! Sounds like the Phaeton is pretty popular.

RE: Good Biplane Kit to Build
I have a freind that flys one , really nice Bipe . The roll rate seemed a little slow, but it had alirons only on the bottom wing. I think installing upper alirons and a servo in the bottom wing for each side would make a big difference in the roll rate and handling. Don't get me wrong , it still flys very nice stock .
So , can we look forward to a build thread in the near future ?
