I have some pic's of the Sig 1/6 scale Cub I built, but sorry to say I did not take any pictures of her while I was building her. I also choose not to do the traditional cub yellow. Here are a few photos of her. She is a great flyer and with a Mag 40 GP for power the GC was perfect the first time I balanced her.
I know you'll love the way she floats in for that landing.
Thanks

I have an uncle that is building a Sig j3 Cub 1/6 scale. He has the wings completed but the model indicates this is a 71" wingspan. It only measures 67". Also there is some sort of pivot in the wings in line with the alerons which would indicate there should be a servo in the middle of the wings using pushrods to activate the alerons.
Any comments from anyone with experience this model would be appreciated, as I only have experience with ARF's.
Thanks,
James

I built this plane and it is a great flyer, but not an easy kit to build. As fas as the pivot in the wing for the servos's, I decided not to us it. I was afraid with a wing span of 71"(67" in your case) there would be to much distance from the servo to the ailerons. I built a small servo tray in each wing panel. I than installed a servo in each wing and used a y-connector to attach the two servo's to the receiver. This gives you better response between the receiver and the servo's. Your'll love the way this plane fly's with a good running 40 in it. Good Luck

Jim:
Thanks for the reply. What size servos should he use? Would the micro servos be large enough?
Thanks again,
James Hood

I would use the standard size servo's. I used the Hitec 422 servo's and they worked out very well. I believe your can buy them for around $12.00 each. The inexpensive standard GWS servo's at www.servohut.com will work also and they are around $10.00 each. I do not think the micro servo's will work very well here because of the amount of air pressure being applied to the aileron. I know for sure the standard size servo's work great. I have being flying mine for almost two years know without a problem. Good Luck

Thanks again Jim. I'll probably have him use Futaba 3004's as I have a Futaba radio I am going to let him use. That is what I have in most of the planes I have.

Some constuction photos from Tubig, some finished photos from me. Unfortunately I didn't take any construction photos either.

bandit, i did it the same way as jim. here are some photos. as you can see the supports are just balsa blocks cut to shape. the hatch is 1/16th sheeting that is laminated on both sides with fiberglass/epoxy. in hind sight i would use ply but i didn't have any on hand at the time. the hatch just slips in place from the wing bottom and secured with 4 screws. i'm using mini servos in each wing.
