Default Hostetler Taylorcraft BC-12D

Just wondering if anyone has built this before. I would like to try. I was also wondering where one would pick up a windshield also. I have built several Sig, Topflite, Dynaflite, and Great Planes kits, but never a plans built kit. Anything else one should know about Hostetler or plans building?
Thanks I know you guys will know the answeres.
Alan

Hostetler has good designs. Study the plans well, before beginning each step, just to make sure that you understand what Wendel intends.

Suppliers are listed on his site. Most likely, the T-craft windshield is on the plans, and cut from clear sheet.

Here's a pic of my Hostetler Cessna 195.

Thanks Tom,
I've been lurking around your build on the other site. That is a very nice build you have there.

Thanks, Alan.

I didn't realize that it was you, until after I posted.

I have another set of Hostetler plans. Construction methods are similar to the Cessna. I feel confident that the T-craft would be similar, too.

Tom,
Did you cut your kit or did you have a kit cutter do it for you? Who would you use to cut one?
Thanks
Alan

I use Precision Cut Kits, Alan. http://www.precisioncutkits.com/ In fact, I have a kit for Hosatetler's Fairchild 24 on order now.

Alan,
Looks like we have similar taste in aircraft.
I just ordered the plans yesterday and when I spoke to Wendall, he said the windshield is cut from flat stock. He also recommended National Balsa as a kit supplier and has heard some good things from people that have ordered from them.
Gary.

Redbiscuits,
Keep me posted and lots of pix. I have yet to get my Ryans Rebel in the air yet. I bought a used engine. Guaranteed to run great. Wont start and seller wont reply. Sorta upsets me.

Alan,

Take that engine apart and find what is the problem.

A new engine might be worth the expenditure if you need parts that cost too much.

Red,
By chance did you talk about wing construction? I assume that its a two piece wing. Anything you discussed you would like to share?
Thanks
Alan
