Default BTE Venture 60 kits shipping soon!

Just received an email from Bruce indicating for only $159.95 (+shipping) you can order and it will ship next week! GREAT plane and everyone should build at least one Bruce Tharpe kit and see how kits are supposed to be

One of my first kit builds was a Venture 60. At that time I had no basis to assume the kit was any different from others. Now having build several other brand kits, I know that BTE kits are far superior. The wood quality, plans and instructions are excellent. But the nicest thing is that every part "fits" and the kit assembles as per plan and instruction. You are not left wondering what is this piece for, what does that mean, I can't find that on the plans, etc. And the plane flies bueatifully. If you've never built a BTE kit, you should try one. The Venture 60 was the first kit from BTE. Last year I found on that place that we can't mention the very first Venture 60 sold. Now understand that I have one flying Venture 60 and one Venture 60 NIB unbuilt. But when I saw that kit up for sale, it was similar to Victor Kiam's statement. You remember Victor in the old Remington Electric Shaver commercials? During some of his commercials he would say, "I liked the razor so much that I bought the company." Well, I liked the Venture 60 so much, I bought the very first kit ever sold(which is also the very first kit BTE sold). Kit number 001 was not sold and is still owned by Bruce Tharpe.

I searched for 2 years after they were discontinued before I finally came across one for sale in kit form. I am so glad to see they are back. Better tell your friends too stock up and give a big shout out to Bruce for bringing back a classic. I knew he couldn't hold out on us forever.. Well I hoped anyway..

Now I can get out and fly mine the way it should be flown without fear of losing it and no replacement...

i really look forward to getting my kits (2 Ventures and a Vortex) , all I have ever heard is what great kits they are. Bruce seems to be a totally standup guy. Putting up with me hounding him to start making the Venture again, (as I am sure many others have) proves that!.

This will be fun!

All the best and stockup !!!

Also, I am going to do all 3 planes, 2 Ventures and the Vortx electric. Any help in showing me the way or where I can find this info is greatly appreciated.

Ordered my Venture 60 from Bruce. Super nice guy. I am in Hog Heaven with the Venture 60 and a CG Ultimate ordered. Now all I need is to decide between ordering a GP Ultra Sport 60 or a Bridi Dirty Birdi. Life is good.

Lou,
It's hard getting them past the wife when I have 6 or 7 other unbuilt kits. Lucky for me she is pretty understanding. She doesn't see what all the fuss is about.

I build a GP ultrasport 40 years ago and it is an awesome plane. It flies fast like its on rails and is quite capable of any aerobatics you can throw at it as well, and floats in like a trainer when landing. Ordering my ventures next week. Going electric this time as well. Got a Saito 1.25 on this one and it has unlimited vertical at 1/2 throttle. I'll post a video of it in the next couple days.

Either engine would be fine. I ran my Venture with an OS 70 four-stroke and then on a whim a Saito 125. The 125 is the same weight as the 100. The airplane handled the engine well and the vertical, well you can only guess how straight up and out of sight it would fly. However, the vibration finally started taking its toll on the airframe(CA hinges, etc.) If the 75 is lighter, which I suspect, that would be my choice. The 75 will have more than enough power. Below are pics of my Venture with both motors.

I was about to pull the trigger on a Venture kit a few years back right as they were discontinued, so when I heard about the limited run this time around I jumped. Email from Bruce said it should ship soon. I'm going to build it stock except for the dual aileron servo mounts and I would like to build a more streamlined balsa 3/4 cowl. Can anyone point me to a good "how to" for building up a balsa cowl or a build thread where someone did it?

I'm going to use an OS .91 Surpass and either a 2 1/2" or 2 3/4" aluminum spinner.

My 4 Star has a OS Max .75AX, and it is a wonderful engine for sport flying. The plane flies straight up at half throttle, and that power has saved me on a few less than perfect touch and goes. If you give it full throttle, it just goes - no matter which way it was pointed, and no matter how slow you let it get before. It also starts easier than any engine I've ever seen.

Anyone come up with a good alternative to the flimsy gear?

They fly very nicely! Easy build. The gear on mine is solid, even though it is 2 piece.

Well mine came today,Bruce if your following this thread, just simply a beautiful kit.I'm going to start building on Satuday in the AM while it's still cool here in the Central Valley. Can't wait to start, but I want to show some of the young guys I fly with, what kits are supposed to be like.I don't know if any of you guys out there ever built any of the old Airtronic kits, but they were just like Bruce's kit in quality and fit.Later

Jim.
