So the thing about kinkos and staples is you can't get these planes reporduced in 1 piece. There largest printer is just shy of what it would take and you end up having to get a 2 piece print for each of the plan pages. Does anyone know of a print service that can handle printing this out? maybe online?

36"x48" seems to be everyone's max... I think these plans are 56" long

The Kinkos by my house made a copy to PDF for me... I'll have to go there and see if they can reporduce it. They have one of those big plan printers that the paper rolls down.

so there are two large printers at mine.... a black and white printer that can handle a max size of 36x48 that is pretty cheap to use... would require 2 sheets... Iw as wrong on the previous cost fo $4, it was closer to $4 per page... they also have a much larger color plotter that to use would cost ~$110 to get each page printed out. That one could do it on one sheet.... but I didn't really consider that an option due to cost.

mattnew,

i just called the kinkos where I had the plans scanned and their limitation is the width, which is 36"

it would cost $10 and change to print a page 36"x56"

I recomend only printing out the wing plans because those are the ones you will be building from, and only the protion of the plans that have the rudder on them...

if you need help geting the hard copies I can help you with that...

What a great thread! Another Ultimate owner (not yet built), and thinking of dle or os gt power - depending on funds!

Any numbers available?

Cheers Rich

Had my first outing of the year with the Ultimate today. Last time the model saw the sky was in September last year. during our national championship. Contemplating on whether I should sign up for a scale competition (F4H) in two weeks time or not... During the nationals last year I landed a 5th place (out of 8 or 9). Ought try and improve on that.

But it is always a joy when the Ultimate takes to the air.

I'm going with the gt22 in mine but both would be great choices from everything I've seen

Gear is on, I decided on 3 nylon bolts.
Engine is mounted and spinner fitted, I had to cut the truturn bolt a bit.

I'm on at a Stage where you don't "see" the hours I've commited... ...cutting al the bolts to the right length, adjusting here and there, control horns, etcetc.
And I will mount the smoke system before covering.

To go:
Assemble and mount fuel and smoke tank
Throttle and smoke control cables
Fiberglass cowl and pants mounting
Covering!

building the airframe is the easy part. It's all that stuff afterwards that takes the time, with little to show progress.

J Paul, I used to have that perry pump for my smoke system...  it was ok, but I would recomend going with a programable electric system... it's more reliable in my opinion and a lot less plumbing especially with the refillng unless you use one of those gas fueling valves...

The sytem is lightweight, plumbing has been solved (at least in my mind!).
I don't like filling valves, so I'll use what I also uso on my engines: I split the line to the carb and use a small brass tube to join it. When filling, I separate the lines and fill directly through the carb line to the tank.
Keeps lines simple and less places to suck air!

Thanks for the advice, on a bigger plane I would surely use an electric pump!

I just know if the perry pump sits for a while it has a tendency to stop working, including the smoker version. That's the only reason I put in mt $0.02....

BTW, the plane is looking nice!

The instructions recommend "sealing" the pump with a loop of fuel line if sitting for a long time unused, and avoid getting it dry.
From your $0.02 looks like a good advice... ...thanks for the heads up!
