Drop me a line if interested. I can take a few more pics if you like.

Yes, I still have it. I'll send you some pics in a PM. I finally got around to opening the box.
Computer based pics are not supported in the PM section so I have to post some here instead. See below.

Here are a few pictures:

The original Cowl and wheel pants are in the box with tall the original kit materials. I had visions of doing a really nice job on the kit and really didn't care for the cheap blow molded plastic that was always included in the kits. A hard landing or three and the thin plastic would always break.
The fiberglass cowl and the wheel pants in the third picture were ordered from Fiberglass Masters. I think they are now called Fiberglass Specialties.

Hi guys! Finally got my old Ultimate out to fly again, once on Saturday, and once today. I actually hoped to fly many flights with it today but after a good first flight, the tank would not accept fuel, acting like it was fully pressurized, which it could not be. Anyway I will check it all out and make it well again. The flight I did have, was a great one with the Ultimate flying on rails like it always has. The OS 120 FS was humming along and pulling the plane through loops, slow rolls, four point rolls, stall turns, etc with ease and grace. Just wish I could have had more flights today! Some pics are attached...looks the same as it does in post #1 of this thread, still. Oh, prior to flying this year, I changed out the flight pack, found a dead rudder servo and changed it out, and fixed the throttle cable linkage which broke since last flying. Thanks for keeping the thread and Ultimate Brotherhood alive and well!

Well, thanks to @MRRCSMIKE we have aquired a new airframe to replace our Dave Patrick ARF we lost. Still plan on using our YS 140 for mega power! Build thread coming later this year...

Hi there!

With some 22 hours of use, and after winning IMAC Basic 2015, the Ultimate just started the 2016 IMAC Sportsman season last weekend.

Placed close 2nd in competition with some 100cc CARF airplanes... ...the little Ultimate that CAN!!!
A truly wonderful airplane.

Ps. Only glow and KIT airplane at the championship!!!

Saludos,
Jean Paul

Good to hear Jean Paul! Congrats on the strong finish. I was planning on running my Dave Patrick 120 in IMAC Basic until I had a training accident. I got a little carried away with some spins. Hopefully next year!

Here's some pics I found of my very first CG Ultimate! Built in 1991, it had a Super Tiger .91 for power. I remember it being an awesome plane. My son would like to do our new one in a similar color way but more modern. We shall see!

Question Finishing Electric Ultimate

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum - only signed up because I saw your Ultimate brotherhood group. Years ago (12 or so) I had a CG Ultimate with 25cc four stroke. I had a lot of pleasure from it until one day I was knife edging low across the field, forgetting that the corn field next door was at full height. Wing clipped the corn and I was left to search for the bits in 2 metre high "grass". But... I had another CG Ultimate kit in a cupboard.

In the meantime life happened and I didn't have the time to do much modelling. But after a family tragedy I have rediscovered my love for R/C modelling and I pulled the old Ultimate kit out of the cupboard and set to. This time I have converted it to electric drive and I have a full telemetry pack installed for the fun. I've also put in a Gopro mount. With a 6000mah 6S Lipo it weighs about 4kg. See the photo below - not yet finished, mind you.

Unfortunately I just screwed up painting the canopy. Any one know where I can get a replacement? Carbon Copy in the UK do a carbon fibre canopy, in the last resort. But I was wondering if there are any remaining sources for a clear canopy? Any suggestions?

Robert.

Hey guys, I have my sights on one of these, took me a while to track down who made it, but it does appear to be the Kit built CG Ultimate. If I'm right, its the only 54" WS Ultimate. It has what appears to be an OS Gemini on it, of unknown displacement. What I will need if I do manage to get my mitts on it will be CG point and throw settings. I most likely will need to install my own radio gear in it since I don't know what in it.

This along with my Something extra will be my sky boring planes. I will have a few of each type now, Warbirds, trainers, sport and pattern. Oh, and one very BIG 3D.

My Ultimate took it's 1st flight yesterday. Only had the chance for a single short flight as the wind was increasing rapidly. But it flew beautifully and I can't wait for the next chance.

I had one that I flew last month, but it crashed. I think flutter of the top wing caused it. The fuse is OK but the wings were destroyed. Does anyone have a set to sell?. Or can I buy a set of foam cores anywhere?
PM me with info

I picked one up last night, needs a few things done to it to make it airworthy. Does anyone have the drawing for the struts? This is missing both of them. It has a fiberglass cowl that is slip in halves, and fits nicely around the engine. Needs some patching to the covering, new RX, possibly battery, and the links between ailerons is missing, other than that, looks like it will fly.

Looks like CG is marked inside, but would be nice to know what it is and what I should set the throws to. Anyone know where I can get the manual for it?

Thanks, PM sent.

It is a bit heavy, the battery was installed in the tail with a hatch. It an old one, has a Hitec FM channel 24 RX in it, all the rubber bands inside fell apart. I thought it was a fiberglass cowl, but the builder used fiberglass to join it together, but its in good shape. The Gemini has compression on both cylinders now, so it should be a runner. The only thing I am wondering is that one valve adjuster screw is shorter than the rest of the others, seems a bit strange. The crankcase breather was extended all the way to the tail too, which seems like a good idea, but wonder if that will cause issues due to the length of it. Charging the pack now to see if it hods a charge, and for how long.

I wonder if a Saito 91 would be a better engine for this instead of the gemini twin, maybe a bit lighter. If I keep it on, would an onboard glow driver be a good idea?

check your mail

i have a YS 120 on one (not flown yet) and plan to go to a DLE 20 on a second one. that one originally had a 90 two cycle in it.

Depends on the type of flying you want to do i guess. id fly it with the twin and see, or go to a single 120 four cycle before I went down in size...

Thanks a bunch. I will check those out when I get home. I also have a YS 120 at home, never ran it, but appears to be in great condition. I reserved it for my kit built P-51, but can use it in just about anything. I was thinking the Gemini would look great in my Biper Cub, but is a bit too much power, I currently fly my regular Cub with a Saito 100, and its a beast on a 5 pound plane, the Biper also has a Saito 100 on it, which should have more than enough power to make up the added drag of the second wing. Going to swing by the hobby shop and grab some covering and aluminum so I can get this airworthy. I'll probably run up the engine over the weekend.
