Does anyone know, offhand, who carries the F/G Cowl and wheel pants for the CGU? I knew at one time, but can't remember off the top of my pointy head!

Mark,

[RE: Post #225] Thanks for kicking me and making me go look again...I knew about F/G Specialties, but when I looked, for some reason, I looked completed over the "KITS" section...duhhhh, [sm=bananahead.gif] oh well, found it now...thanks again.

Michael,

[RE: Post #220] Conversion looks nice...be sure to post your specs when you get it finished (weight if different +/-, Performance, etc) and if you have more pics, any mods you did to accomplish the conversion...good job! [sm=teeth_smile.gif]

Thanks guys!

Duh! Why didn't I think of this before. I have an idea.... I do have my old plans plus a set of two new ones! (Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 .90 kit plans) I will look into making electronic copies of them and posting them for 'DA HOOD!' Since I'm not profiting I guess I can share them with friends, right? They should have all the pieces on them that can be cut out, if not I'll trace the formers and ribs onto paper as I progress with the build... you can than either scratch build them or find someone who can laser cut a short kit.... There's a fiberglass place that sells the cowl and wheel pants. The cock pit.... a 2 liter clear plastic soda bottle ought to do the trick. That was my original path but I coldn't find a reliable laser cutting place..... Just a thought, let me know if you guys are interested. It's worth every second and penny to build this kit... Mine flew great, handled like it was on rails, and its roll rate would leave my eyes spinning....
Peter, just let me know how I can help, of course I'd like to make a short kit ''just in case''

Alfred.
Ok, looks like I have a little project. I'll run down to kinkos and get the plans scanned into electronic format. This way thay can be printed in full size on a plotter printer. Once I have this we'll take it from there. I guess we'll need to encode the ribs and formers into cad so they can be cut out. Do you know a good lazer cutting place or have a CNC machine?
Peter,

If you get the plans/templates in electronic format, I'd sure be appreciative of a copy if you don't mind...I have the kit and the paper plans, but I did not trace the templates before I framed the craft. I have not flown mine, but am getting back on it after many years, and if they fly nearly as well as most say, I will want to build another down the road for sure. Thanks in advance for your efforts!

Here is my ultimate I got it for free a few years ago. I'm not even sure what brand it is. What I would like is if anyone could tell me the brand and where I could get a wing kit for it.I only have the bottom wing it is 54inches long, on the bottom of the wing it says blue hawk if that helps anyone in identifing it. It's not near as nice as the rest of your guys ultimates but hopefully when I'm done rebuiling it it will fly just as good. Thanks for any help

I have the patterns for the parts to the CG Ultimate that you have there if you want to PM me with your address I can mail you the rib pattern you need to build a new wing. Do you have the plan for the CG ultimate?

If it helps you out, i have on ribb for the cabane attachment (original) for a patternand a section of the Plan for the wing, actualy have a whole Plan set, used 3 times but stii useabel if yoy need it. The build is pretty straight forward and not very complicate. Also have the original Aileron strips if i remember right. I made a bunch of changes on the last one i build and had stuff left over
Let me know if you want it, just compensate me for the Postage and im good

Todays flght report first time out wth the DLE 20 6 flights:
OK, starts like or better than my DA 50 i had, fist start 15 flips choked and responded, choke open 3 flips and she runs. The DLE 20 runs defenetly smoother than the YS120 i had on it, to the performance, no different then the YS, spools up a liitle slower but other than the mssing smoke trail no difference in power. Upline with moderate pattern style snaps the Ultimate does not fall appart and keeps climbing like it should be with this Engine. Restars after 30 min cool down and check over at 40 F, no choke 1 flipp and the DLE is alive and no sputter or rumble when throttled up cold, 20 foot take offs and straight up with ample power, patter sequence all just over half throttle.
Defenetly enough Power Plant for one of these nice Biplanes, after 6 flights today i would state that this setup is fully satifactoty for this Plane
Cant wait till she is broken in, i am happy and say No to Glow for 90 size Airframes form now on
All have a great Week end here

Michael,

Outstanding. Glad to hear the favorable results. Sounds like the CGU was designed for this engine. Looking forward to flight videos! I will definitely be mounting this engine on mine when I finish it up [hopefully] this winter...Hope all had a great Holiday!

I have a couple of NIB Goldberg Ultimate Biplane ARFs (two different color schemes). You are giving me the inspiration to saddle up one of my 1.20 ARFs with my yet unran DLE 20cc engine. Thanks!

Now to find a kit of the same. I had one years ago. Wish I had held on to it. A good friend did a beautiful job of building it for me. Superb construction and finish, but things popped up in my personal life that caused me to dispose of it, unflown. Hopefully, I'll get one of these two ARFs airborne soon. Good luck with your Ultimate Biplane.

Great report, a very valuable info to this brotherhood, now things are going to change a bit, I bet that many YS users will try this DLE in a snap.

Thanks raubold.

Hi Alfred,
Like to join your wonderful brainchild too! My first ever kit was the CG Ultimate - sadly lost it when she was still a young bird, full speed dive and the elevator clevis snapped. Have acquired a secondhand 30% CG Ultimate, the covering was a bit tatty and I am in the process of stripping it. Will post pictures as I go along of the the new covering job which I am still playing with at the moment. She will be hauled around with a 75cc 3W.
Cheers
Toby
