An os 110 alpha 4 stroke that I bought new 2 years ago and never ran , at least that is the most appealing idea at the moment , lol . I also have a nib ST g90 ringed , ys 140 sport (yikes!) , or a Saito 130 twin (hhhmmmmm probably NOT a good idea , lol ) all as potential fits . I have thought about electric or gas but vibrations from gas scares me and electric is too quite for my taste .
I will be flying sport acrobatics with it and I keep thinking the 110 alpha fits . However I am open to ideas from people who fly this model

Mine has an OS Gemini 120 twin, that Saito would make it one sweet plane. I can't wait until I can fly mine again now that I have it all structurally sound and have a working throttle. I love how the 120 barks, it has straight pipes.

I know my 130 sounds like a small Harley , lol . Think the plane will handle the weight?

Hi folks, I hope all are getting a chance to build and enjoy the 10-300. It is only my opinion that in a vast number of great flying models, the Goldberg Ultimate is a great package for a large section of rc flyers. I mentioned that I had been "hording" a kit and even though I sold my Y.S. 1.40 but I plan on giving thought to just how strong of a power plant has been successfully screwed on to the front of one. My last one that I sold was so crisp and strong I now wish I had kept it. I personally feel that planes can operate well on well running "old" engines as well as new ones. I personally can't afford to drop the dollars for a new O.S. 1.50FS or replacement Y.S. I love my old Sachs head Brison 4.2 ci in my Mustang but that is the limit of my hands on with gas engines for my planes. I don't do electric because i'm just a combustion guy and I like my comfort zones with my toys. I would really like to hear some success stories of anything above the .60 2 stroke meth/nitro

Hey guys need some help. Working on getting a Dave Patrick Ultimate .40 size back into the air. I have the manuals but no plans since it was an ARF. It is missing the interplane struts and center cabanes. What i need to know is does anyone have one of these or access to one because I need the distance between the upper and lower wings so I can manufacture these items. Ive tried scaling it off of photos on the net but really would like to get an actual measurement.

Thanks Ron

"tejasnumu" my C.G. Ultimate (the ARF version) initially equiped an OS 120FS (the old first version) and flew fine but lacking power for vertical maneuvers. Then I switched to the OS 120AX and it is now a winner!.

I may go vertical since take off and actually I have to manage power so as to fly as real as possible.

As fas as you keep the model light I think a 90-1.20 2 stroke should be perfect for taking max joy from your Ultimate.

Best Regards.

Hi Jesus: Thanks for the reply. I agree that a plant well above .60 2 stroke is going to give you much more satisfaction. I sold a motor that was a fs and was perfect for me but replacing that is up close to $600.00. I'm just not willing to make that kind of expenditure at my point in life. I have used a O.S. 1.20 with lots of satisfaction. I have a 1.20FS supercharged that we, unlike many worked the bugs out of and it drug a Yak around by the nose. With the push by the industry for gasoline power plants, I wondered if anyone was putting out some hp with those. I think a 1.20 would suit me now but I transitioned through that to the YS pumped 1.40 (I sold) and it really was a model that made me happy.

Gentlemen,

I've been lurking for a while and will soon begin building my CG Ultimate kit that I purchased ~10 years ago when they were still in production. All the tips on here have been great and I plan to incorporate some of the mods that many other have discussed.

I have bulit several other kits and most recently have flown the wings off (not literally) of a Precision Aerobatics Bad Boy V2. For this kit I'm going to be trying to keep it as light as possible, but planning on dual aileron servos, and likely 2 mini (metal gear?) elevator servos in the tail. I'm also toying with increasing aileron size inboard.

Although I have plenty of time, I'm struggling a bit with engine choice. I'd like it to have a decent vertical and I do dabble with 3D flight. My comfort zone is 2-stroke glow, so I lean towards the OS .95 or 1.20 size. I see the 1.20 is similar in price to the 0.95, seems like a no brainer?

I've also read plenty on the DLE20, but have never dabbled in gas. Glow seems simpler and will keep the weight down, no?

Also, anyone interested in seeing build pics as I progress? I'll probably be starting in a few weeks.

Thanks guys!

my Ailerons till fuse, 1/4 wider, JR mid size 4 in wings, same each alevator, 5925 rudder (little slow), look it up in my profile, picture is with ys 120, replaced with DLE20, much better, forgot the servo numbers, but JR discontinued them anyways
have a ball, one of the best, if not is the best of this size

Beautiful build! I've been trying to figure out what the tubing wrapped around the exhaust is for. Do you have a smoke system installed? If so, how does the DLE20 do with it?

Does fine with it just like it did it did with the old style YS 120, by moving stuff around i save 8 oz of weight using an ibec ignitin control on share A123
I only use the loud a-s stock muffler for couple flights and got an inverted mount muffler from wrongway rc, much more pleasant tone and 600 more rpm's
i also in that process i changed the heay motor mounts to a rear mount plate from seaplane suplies with short standoffs, much better to work with, is plan that route i can give you more hints for the future build

Do you have the rear or side exhaust version on it? Where did you get the standoffs? Did you have to move the firewall at all? I was hoping to use the rear exhaust version but not sure how it will fit.

the rear mount fits actually better, have one set up like that, have two Ultimate's, the second one is close to finished, firewall used like in the plans, had to grind a little for throttle arm clearance, used the rear exhaust DLE on something else currently, try to find pictures for you

Hello Bodybuildr... the rear exhaust dle 20 ra will fit .no need to mod the firewall..the motor will stand 12mm further out as stated in the plans. this was no problem for me.
I did make a hole in the firewall so the carb will breath better.

I used a 3 degree offset to the right by offsetting the motor standoffs The black things that mount to motor and firewall (see if i can find a pic)..The canister was a problem with the servo wires for wing but i tucked them up nicely.. The motor cowl was a bit finneky to get right too..
I would suggest all hv servos( 8.4v ),then one single 2s battery running rec and ign..Spectrum rec can handle up to 9.4v and the new dle ignitions handle 8.4 volt. The tech aero ibec is also a nice piece to have.

You will have one very light and powerful bipe on this setup
