Aero Gloss Paint
Is Aero Gloss dope still available in glass jars and in colors. If so do you have a source?
Thank you for the replies. todd |

Check before ordering. I just heard a couple days ago that one of the main supplyers of colored dope had their factory burn down. Anybody who can confirm?

I went ahead and checked Midwest. But they only have a very limited color selection. Any other sources. Thank you. Todd

They are the manufacturer; they have what is produced.

So is there an alternative to Aero Gloss dope.
I am going to do some kit building now that I am retired and just need a source for some fuel proof paint. In the old days that would be Aero Gloss dope. There must be something new. Thank you. todd |

Go to this website http://www.stits.com/ I've never used the Stits-Lite system, but I have used the stits polyfiber system for full sized airplanes. It was very user friendly and of very high quality. I will be trying their system on my next model. Or this site http://www.darehobby.com/accessories/dope-colored.htm I just finisheda model using Koverall and Brodak dopes. I stuck the Koverall to the airframe as well as filled the weave of the fabricwith Brodak nitrate and then finished with Brodak color and clear butyrate dope. Again, very high quality products and great service from Brodak. LSC |

You can get Randolph dopes, which are basically the same as Aerogloss. Any of their dopes will work on models where you're using fabric or tissue, but they suggest their tautening nitrate product. Use their non-tautening Butyrate dope to fuel-proof the finish. Here's their website:

The factory that burned was Poly Fiber and it was several years ago. It didn't affect the production of dope at all. We too carry dope as it is part of the product line of Consolidated Aircraft Coatings now. Anyone that requests one can receive a Randolph color card and prices and/or color card and prices for Poly Fiber. We sell both. Just send your snail mail address to: [email protected]
