Goldberg Tiger Club

I would like to start a club for the Goldberg Tiger, Tiger2, Tiger60, and all other variants that have been issued over the years. I hope that we have some Tiger lovers that would like to join. I love all the Carl Goldberg models that i have flown, and would like to pay tribute to the tiger in particular.

I really like the Tiger2, very smooth and precise for a "low wing trainer". So far I've built 3 of the original goldberg kits. I'm sure the new GP-Goldberg laser cut kits must be as good or better as the original ones. ;)

I've only experienced the std Tiger 60.

What a smooth - pleasant plane to fly. Thanks to the long tail moment arm and the high aspect ratio wing.

my Tiger 2 was an ARF i think. If was given to me after a crash. I put in in twice more. it has plywood on the fuse and CF in the wings to piece it back together. IT currently weighs 8.5 pounds with all the repairs and the OS .61FX. it does fly well on windy days.

I also have a Tiger 60 with a Saito 150S four stroke. just put fresh bearings in it too. I am carving a custom replica pilot. it is patterned after a club member and will have him in winter garb with copper glasses and wool moustache. I have yet to install the canopy and I have been flying it as is. I have it setup with tricycle gear including a 4.5 front and 4" robart scale warbird rears. I also have to install the hubcaps on the robarts. I will get some pics setup here ASAP.

ok So here is the roster for Club Tiger

Tiger 60 ARF with JETT Engineering 90 ! :D

for my girlfriend bought at a swapmeet:
Tiger II kit built, OS.52 4-stroke, in pink, and flaps!
fun to fly with just the left hand only using: Throttle Rudder and Flaps ( flaps on the LH side slider)
it does not need flaps at all, have to mix down elevator to keep it from climbing

Sign me up.

My Tiger is a 1.20 ARF. All of the Tigers are exceptionally well performing aircraft.

I Will Join...I curently have a Tiger 60 with an OS Max 75 AX in it...It is a great flying plane...I Built it tail dragger style, took about 1/2 the dihedral out. Built a cowl on it ..I increased the size of the elevator and rudder about 3/4" ... Plus a few other mods...I love the Tigers..They are fantastic flying planes..I had a Tiger 2 that I had an OS Max 55 AX in..It was Even better in some ways...Seemed faster manovering. Like it would roll in the blink of an eye...My 60 is a bit slower...I like the 60 better though...It is just easier to see and easier to fly...I think if I increased the controle throws the 60 would roll faster etc. I just havent tried because I like how it flys now....Why don't we start a Tiger Brotherhood I will be what ever # falls into place.....

wow nice response. I know everyone I talk to loves the tiger. They are as gentle as a trainer and can be very fun also. very aerobatic and maneuverable. Crazy4flight with his wild Jett .90 and I need to go fly. My Tiger 60 with the Saito 150s is a crown pleaser.

Thanks to allfor your responses and thanks to Goldberg for standing by this venerable airframe.

I have had a Sky Tiger setting in the garage for sometime now. I'm in need of a canopy for it. Goldberg nolonger makes that part. If some one has a spare or a loose one that can cast a plaster mold of it. I would be will to cover the cost. Larry

My Tiger 60 is a great airplane to fly. Stable, solid flying bird that is a pure joy to fly. I just finished the engine, going from a Fox .50BBRC to a Saito .80 for a bit more oomph. Haven't had a chance to fly the new combo yet, though.

I would love to join as well. I had a Tiger 2 40 size with a Webra 50 on it and it was a lot of fun. I am going to pick up a new kit this week and start building one or two with my boy so he has a plane to fly (he is eight and just starting to learn).

I'm in. I've built at least 4. My brother is on number 5, a Tiger 60 with an OS 75ax. He set this one up with flaperons. Works great. Our winter project is going to be a prototype and probably 2 "production" Tiger 30's. That is, scratch built enlarged version suitable for a 30cc gas engine. It's hard to beat a Tiger!

Ed,
What engine do you have in the 120 ARF?

I have one NIB and am not sure what eninge to use. With it being so large, gas would be my #1 choice.

Also wondering just how acrobatic it is...

Thanks,
Bill S.

I have a Tiger 60 with a JBA 15cc gas engine...the two were made for each other...the plane has just about unlimited vertical and flies beautifully while just sipping the gas. The added weight of the JBA 15 allowed me to remove the dead weight placed in the nose to get it to balance correctly when I had a Magnum .61 glow on it. I have also changed out the NiMh battery packs to LiFe battery packs. This is the airplane I always bring to the field no matter what...
