I can view through 142, if that helps.
Slow progress is being made on my Cub. The wings have been covered in Natural Solartex. |
jwrich, thanks for checking that. I thought that I had been listed but, like the others, I only saw 1 - 99, so thought that I would ask.
Mea culpa... I thought that I was wrong, and I was wrong... :-) :-) :p |
Solartex looks good Tom!

Thanks ! I have found Solartex to be an easy covering to work with. |
Wish I could cover that good! :)
I hate to think of the winter but next winter's project is yet another Enforcer...turbine this time. I've been wanting to do one for years! :D |

Who carries Solartex online? I'm going to be needing some soon and my LHS can't get it...
Thanks, Bob |

Thanks, Bob Covering |
Thanks, Tom. I knew that BUSA had it, but was wondering if someone else also carried it. I appreciate the update.
I've never used that stuff before. At what it costs, I am going to be really careful how I cut it.:-) :-) How wide is the roll??? I can't find that dimension on the Balsa USA site. This stuff is fuelproof right out of the wrapper, isn't it??? Is there anything that I should know about applying or finishing it??? Bob |

Bob Solartex is fuel proof, but don't let that fool you into thinking that it doesn't need to be sealed. The covering gets dirty easily. Sealing it makes it easy to clean. I prefer to use Natural Solartex, which is the one designed for accepting paint. Paint seals the covering, of course, but it also eliminates the issue of finding matching paint for cowls, wheel pants, etc. For the pre-colored Solartex, many use Nelson's waterborne clear, but automotive clear and epoxy work well, too. I use Minwax Polyurethane, which will yellow over time. |
Please put me in the Brother Hood. I fly a BUSA 1/4 scale Aeronca C3. In kit form, i have a BUSA 1/3 scale Cub, and a !/3 scale Sopwith Camel. Am i #141? If not, please help me get the right Number. Thank You.

Thanks, Bob Think it's around a buck twenty from BUSA! Your choice bird |
Bird, what is their web site address? Others may want to order from them.

Hi Bob, have you considered Sig Koverall? 60 inches wide by 5 yards is $24,99 or so. Liike 1/4 the price of Solartex. It does not have adhesive or any finish, must use Balsarite or Sig Stikit. Put on like any fabric, then heat shrink and dope or paint. Check out the Sig website and the many threads here on RCU. I love Solartex, but for big builds, cost matters, and the end result is as good with Koverall. Good luck.
Sincerely, Richaed BUSA # 141 |
