I don't know why with all the brotherhoods around there isn't a BUSA one, so here it is!

I didn't scale this one out too much but will do a better effort on the next kit.
I have a NIB D7, N28 and a N17 to build.

To be in the brotherhood ask for a number in a post, if I miss it PM me, you must at least own a kit of a BUSA to join.

Balsa USA is one of the best kit manufactures out there,even there support team(Dave Lewis)are awesome.I've built a 1/2 dozen kits or so over the years,and own about the same.If these guys ever quit I'm screwed.jeffo

#5 for me ? Some of the best flying planes of all time have come out of balsa USA... their Phaeton line being some of my favorites....

Recently purchased a BALSA USA Eindecker 90 from a fellow, that started it, but thought he could not finish it. He only had the fuselage framed up. I might add that the reason I purchased it was because I am fed up and tired of ARF's. Thought that if I want a well built and good flying model, then I should build it myself. Started building when I was 8 years old and now I am older than dirt. :(

Purchased the kit, pushrods, wheels, large roll of covering, fiberglass cowling and cheeks, dummy engine, 4 servo's, etc, etc, etc. Purchased it all at what I thought to be a very reasonable price. Put it on my shelf and plan to make it next winters project.

Not sure what I will use for power. Has been suggested that a Saito .90 would be plenty of power. But am thinking about either a Saitio 1.00 or 1.25. Any other suggestions from anybody that has the same kit ?

Finally to mention the popularity of the D7. Friend of mine has one all framed up, but has decided to set it aside for covering and finishing next winter. As stated, it seems to be one of the more popular kits.

Models of early aircraft with radial engines always seem to need nose weight so rather than lead use the bigger motor. This also allows you to spin a larger prop. I used a fine pitch prop and it was an oversize prop for the engine wide open it flew quite well and provided lots of breaking in a dive.

Granpooba, the Eindecker is a wonderful model. Its really a sport model that looks like an Eindecker. Built lightly, its a floater and the either Saito would be more than enough. I add scale details which affect the weight. I recently built an Eindecker but turned into a Morane Saunlier Type G. Used the cowl from a 1/4 scale Pup kit. It flew initially with a Saito 100 but it wasn't enough power. I have recently re-engined the plane with a Zenoah G20 and it flies superbly. You will notice it will fly like a big trainer and it will become the one you like to bring as its easy to set-up and fly. Don't expect it to be a high performance acro plane but it will do loops and rolls and generally putt around the sky quite nicely. You'll love it.

Very nice looking model you have there. Naw, I do not expect it to be a high performance acro plane. As you said, I will be happy with a few loops and rolls, plus just listening to it putt around the sky.

I forgot to add, that when I purchased the Eindecker from my friend, he also threw in the machine gun kit. I really think that I got one heck of a deal. If it was not for it being flying season, I would be right now down in the work shop building the kit. ;)

Here are my two BUSA planes. The Nieuport has been flying for a year and the Spad is new this year. Both are great looking and flying planes.

I learned to fly with a BUSA Easy 100. Well, actually several of them, lol. I have built the Stick 40, Moonraker, Taube 40 and the 90, Phaeton II and the 90, and one more that I can't remember the name. Please, count me in.

I have been building Balsa USA kits since the late '70s, I can't remember all that I have built. Here are some of the most recent. The 1/3 scale Fly Baby was built in 82 and sold it in 2004, that airplane flew in 7 countries and 5 states. The others you see I still fly them, except the yellow 1/4 scale D-VII, lost it in the sun, crashed. I also have a 1/4 scale SPAD XIII about 85% complete. I think you can add me to your Brotherhood, please.

We are getting some nice BUSA photos here, keep em coming.

Well so far I have built eleven 1/4 scale BUSA kits, 5 -Fokker D Vll's,one electric,SPAD 13 ,Nieuport 17,28, Sopwith Pup ,SE 5a , one in the box. I've flown in the mass gaggles at Warbirds over Delaware. And I love the BUSA kits. I now "feel" how Dave Lewis thinks. So count me in too.

GREAT looking Spad ! :) I think that has been my all time favorite plane since I was a little fellow.

Wondering, how much time was spent on building the Spad ?

It took me 4 months to build the Spad...Dec - Mar. Lots of cold, snowy days to stay inside and work on airplanes.
