Identify my plane
 

Hi Guys,I built a Cub about 18 yrs ago, I don't remember where I got it. I don't know if it a Tower Hobbies plane,or a Goldberg plane. I dont even know if this plane is available any more. I don't have a pic,but the wing is about 90"long,and the fuse is about 56" long. If anyone knows where I can buy the same kit,or something similar,please let me know. Thankyou much!

That 90 inch wing sounds like a Great planes. I started one about 20 years and gave
it away. I didn't like the super hard wood on the tail group. The plane is a real POS,
that's why you never see them at the field. You might want to check out the Sig 1/4
scale kit, now that's a good plane.

It does sound like a Great Planes Cub.

Although it builds heavy, the model flies well. I flew mine with an OS 91 Surpass, and seldom exceeded half throttle.

I think that you would enjoy this air frame, as have several members of my club.

Tom, would it be possible to lighten it up during the build process?
I know, when I build a race boat, I look for ways to take weight out of the structure to make it as light as possible but, at the same time, not sacrifice strength

I'm sure that it would be possible.

I don't really think that it is necessary, though. The model builds well, and flies well, as designed. It handles the weight with ease. If remember correctly, mine weighed in at 14 pounds.

There is one downside to this model. The landing gear is soft, and bends easily, as can be seen in the pic above. I fixed mine, after the pic was taken, by adding an aftermarket landing gear.

Thanks for the input. It probably is a GPlanes. The only change I made is; it called for barn door airlorons only,but I made flaps out of the rest of the fixed TE. Airlorons came out to 22"and flaps were 14". Havent flown it yet,but Im shure it will fly good.At least you will see it in the air.
