Rather than just extend one of the other older threads on this subject, I thought a new one might be the better way to go. When considering all the newer people on this site since the 2009-2010 time when the older threads started, they can be looked up for all the knowledge & info they contain, but i thought this might help those never having seen this plane, or heard of it, It is a simple build for a simple plane, that has as wide a flight envolope as you can get in a single plane. The pictures are what i got built in just 1 1/2 days of building. I took my last remaining kit, pulled all the parts out, & reproduced each piece to build me another total kit. Then reboxed the original kit & put it back on the shelf. changes are normal which for me is an increase on stab, elevator, & rudder, along with balance tabs on each. I built 4 of these planes back in 2010 for a club contest we had & the last living one of those 4 flew its last flight last May in our clubs "paint ball shoot out" event. I have been missing the fun that this airplane provides at the field, so its time to build another. let me know if these any interest in this & ill keep it going for the build..

That's a rhetorical question, right? Do you even have to ask? There's never enough kit build threads, especially if bashing is involved. I'm staying tuned.

When you say kitbash, are you talking about making it look different than intended? Maybe as a old school race plane or warbird, or maybe a civilian plane? I used to love doing that with the 4 Star series of planes..I think I turned a ultra sport into a vintage racer look as well...

I have done the "kit bashing" where the plane produced is nothing like it was designed to be, then, like this "up-roar", the changes are small & only favor that which Ive come to like in my models. The plane with the "eyes" on top of the wing was an extra 300 kit that I bashed many years ago into more of a S-Bach 342. Totally reshaping the whole thing was the goal then & I like how it turned out, plus it flys great. I took some photos of the parts I built for this up-roar & laid them on the plans. As you can see, theres not a lot of difference. Balance tabs being the biggest change. Lowering the rudder a bit & increasing the lower section a little, & increasing the elevator half & widing the center section cut out to allow for more rudder deflection. I also increased the wing span by 4 inches. (2" per side) Also widing the ailerons to match the wing span, & thickening them to 4 1/2 " (from 3") (front edge to back edge). I also increased the lenth of the fuselage by 2 1/2 inches inbetween the wings. As mentioned before, Ive built many of these years ago & from how they flew, I would like differences that each had, so in this, Im combining many things. Increasing rudder below the stab helps knife edge with less elevator correction. Wider ailerons have better authority at slower speeds that i like to fly at. I just plain like the rounded looks of the tail feathers. And for many years now, rather than sand a 45 degree bevel to the leading edge of the moving parts, I just glue a peice of triangle stock to the edge after drilling the hole for my hinges & clean up the top & bottom a little with a quick swipe of sandpaper & all done. A lot less mess. In the trailing edge of the wing you can see the extra blocks in place for a better hinge gluing surfaces. And as far as the covering on the bigger airplane, I couldnt deside what to do with it & had told my wife I was frustrated about it. her only coment to me was "I really dont care what you do with it, but just remember, you have to keep your eyes on it" So, with "keeping my eyes on it as the theme, this is what I did with it.https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...d8a585acc2.jpg

Those control surface changes would sure liven things up, and that cover scheme is wild... I bet it looks good going vertical with the eyes looking back at the flight line.

Here is the wing taking shape nicely. Again, I increased the span by 4 in. & rather than build a couple more ribs to do the increase, I just moved each of the last 3 ribs out a little farther, but evenly increased as not to make 1 rib bay way too big. As seen in the pics, i do like using robart hinges on most of my models.They allow a smoother flexing of the surface which decreases the loads on the servos, which is always a good thing. I always seal the hinge line on the bottom side with the covering, & with these hinges, I can get the gap close enough that I almost dont need to seal it. The 2 up roars that are in these pictures are the ones i did back in 2010. Each has a few differences to them, but for the most part, they were stock. The orange/blue one is the one I was still flying in May of 2018 in our clubs paintball shoot out. with so much open frame work to these planes, it didnt really live too long before crashing, but boy, was it fun.https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...cf3d78b3ae.jpg

As you mentioned, these little planes are a blast....

I remember your two uproars from the 2010 era.
As of the 1st, it has been two years since any of mine were in the air.
