Question ? For painting my DuBro 7 inch wheels. Should I simply mask off the rubber or remove the rubber tire from the wheel? I am planning on scuffing the wheel with a scothbright pad. Any advice?

deljon 07-11-2011 04:33 AM

RE: Fokker DRI Build Along

You cannot remove the tire from the rims, they are "keyed" into them.
But you can roll them back enough to get paper or tape in between the tire and rim.

I dont mind building wings... Looking at the fuse pics it's just a larger concept of the 1/6 N17. Looks identical except for the stringers creating the rouded sides. Did the DR1 have a sprung tail skid?

Mounted the Fiberglass specialties cowling. Taking measurements from my other DR1 for Firewall drilling. Plan on using a Zenoah 26cc.

I will again mount the Ignition above the engine to get the weight forward.

Doe the ignition or tank not need to be in some sort of foam to help with vibration. I'm asking so I can learn because glow fuel will bubble/foam up. Is this not an issue?

Kitbuilder, My tank sets on a 1/4 piece of Foam. The ignition had no instructions of cushioning and I have had no problems. Zenoah does warn against wrapping the ignition due to overheating. The back is to be left exposed for cooling. I left a 1/2 inch gap between the firewall.

Some covering pics. It has been very HOT here, so I decided on covering inside. Its simply too hot in my garage to paint and I didnt want to wait till October.

I under-estimated my covering order and Ran out of Green and Yellow Solartex. No one in Phoenix stocks this stuff. So I will be delayed a bit.
