i just bought my first R/C and it's a (Kyosho Caliber 30) .. it was delivered today .. unfortunately there were no Manuals included , cuz the Guy that i bought it from had it for like almost 3 months , he never assembled it or even started it's engine , but somehow he managed to lose the manuals ..anyway i've assembled it by downloading the Claiber 30 Manual .. and its on EMS Settings now .. all parts are installed includin' the Servos , Receiver , Gyro , Batteries ,

My Problem is i don't know where to connect each Servo nor How to Program The Futaba Radio .. cuz i couldn't find the manuals for them ..

i live in alil town and the nearest R/C Club is about 300 mil's from where i live .. so u guys r my only hope []

Please help me out .

P.S This's My First R/C ever basically i know nothing [].. i'm step by step kinda guy so please take it easy on me ..

Radio : Futaba T6Xs (6CH)
Receiver : FP-R116FB

Thanx Alot Quattro27 ...

i've downloaded the manual and i've managed to hook up everything by the book .. but while programeing the T6Xs i notice that when i switch to PCM Mode i get no responce from the Servos , but when i switch to PPM Mode everything seems to work just fine .. so should i go ahead and complete the set up using PPM mode ? ur advice please ..

cuz i don't know if the settings in the Galiber Manual were meant to be just for the PCM mode ... so am i doin' it the right way ?

Thanx again Quattro ..

Quattro27 ...

guess what ... i'm done and the Galiber is ready for take off .. but i aint gonna do that yet , not before you give me the (go ahead)

here's how i've set it :

EMS Settings

PPM Mode

Radio Sticks MODE 1

SWSH3 , AILE -65 , ELEV -65 , PITCH +65

Aileron: Normal
Elevator: Normal
Throttle: Reverse
Rudder: Normal
Pitch: Reverse

Now after i've done everything i noticed the followings :

1- the Tail Rotor is moving backward . is this normal , cuz it's not mentioned in the manual?

2- when i move the throttle (+ or -) all the other 4 servos move with it . like for example if throttle moves (+) all the other Servos aim forward including the Rudder server that means a hard right turn .. if throttle moves (-) all the other servos will move backward till they reach thier 0 point .

3- when installing the blades for the main rotor and the tail rotor , it says In the manual (tighten the drag bolt ensuring can still move) what dose that mean ? should i leave the blades loose ? or should i tight em up ?

if this's the way it should be (which i hope it is) would u please give me the basics for take off and landing safely . then i'll take it from there .. yeah right ..

I'm gonna keep the engine runnin' until u reply ..

Thanx In Advance .. i really appreciate ur help

Hello Quattro27 ..

man i can't wait to see this babe doin' it's thing ..

A 1 - no i don't have a pitch gauge [&o]

A 2 - The Gyro is called (JR Piezo G410T) .. and i don't know what you meant by (heading hold) , all i know is i've installed it and hooked it the way the Caliber Manual says .. and i noticed when i move the Heli right the tail rotor changes its directions makin' a left turn , and when i move the Heli left the tail rotor changes its directions makin' a right turn.. so i guess it's workin' ..

A 3 - no i don't have a trainig Gear [&o] but i'm plannin' to make some home-made ( 35" x 35" ) with light wood sticks

i wish there was someone like you in our lil town

my E-mail is on it's way to you .. with countless Thanks ..

Just a couple of questions so that we can help you out a bit more.

When you say the tail rotor is moving backwards, what exactly do you mean? When do they move backwards?

With regard to the throttle:

The rudder servo should only move if you have REVO mix turned on. whether you want this or not depends on whether you have a Heading Hold gyro (which i'm guessing is why quattro27 asked). If the G410T is heading hold (I don't know anyhing about that gyro) then REVO mix MUST be turned off.

Tighten the blades so that when you hold the heli on it's side they don't flap about. It is difficult to describe how much they should be tighened but make sure they are reasonably secure.

It sounds like your receiver is a PPM receiver. This is no problem. Just run the transmitter in PPM mode. It will not affect the settings. PCM will not work unless you have a PCM receiver. I have no knowledge of the manual. The only function that may be mentioned is failsafe. You do not have this function in PPM mode. This is not a problem.

Double check and triple check that the tail rotor gives a nose right (tail left) command when you apply right rudder and vice versa. Double and triple check that the gyro gives a nose right (tail left) command when the heli is rotated nose left. This is probably one of the most common setup errors for new guys with new helis.

Quattro27 .. i didn't receive anything yet .. i'm afraid you've sent it to the wrong e-mail address .. so please double check my e-mail address .. i'm gonna pm it again to you .. thanx alot

siclick33 .. when i look at the Heli form the left side (where the muffler is) both main rotor & tail rotor are rotating clockwise .. that means the the tail rotor is rotating backwards .. so is this normal ?? cuz i've read somewhere in this forum that this would cause the Heli to spin ..

regarding the throttle : yes when i increase the throttle the rudder makes a nose left turn to stop the Heli from spinning ... hmmm i kinda got it now , so since i have the gyro balancing the tail moves i don't need the (REVO Mix) am i right ??

Here's the Gyro full details :

http://www.modelflight.com.au/rc_mod..._lock_gyro.htm

the blades are tightened as u said .

and yes the tail & the gyro are workin' just like you said .

Thanx Alot Siclick33

One last thing is there any possible way to set the pitch with out a (pitch gauge) ? if not which On Line Store do you recommend to buy the Caliber 30 needed Tools and spare parts like blades and linkage and stuff like that ..

OK, first the gyro. From the link you have given me it looks like the gyro can be Heading Hold (or tail lock as they call it). There is a little switch on the gyro that have have to move depending on what mode you want. I will describe very basically what the difference is.

Normal (rate) mode will sense a movement and apply an opposite movement to damp the tail. The tail will still move around a bit. In the hover this is most noticeable when moving sideways. The area of the fin will caused the model to weathercock into the wind. If you want to stop this whilst moving sideways then you have to hold a bit of rudder. This weathercocking is good in forward flight as it helps to point the nose of the heli in the direction it is going.

Now heading hold (or tail lock). This will attempt to maintain the original heading of the heli. This means that, in the previous example, when you hover sideways the gyro knows that you have not demanded the turn (because you haven't moved the stick) and will move the tail servo for you to maintain the heading. In forward flight this makes things slightly more tricky as when you turn a corner the weather cocking is prevented and the model will try to stay on its previous heading. In heading hold mode the gyro will sense REVO mixing as a rudder input. It will therefore rotate left and right as you increase/decrease the collective. This is probably the main reason it should not be used. It sounds awkward but this is also true of the rudder trim. After the gyro has been initialised this should also not be used in Heading Hold mode as it will cause the heli to rotate.

It is a slightly difficult concept to understand but im simple terms. In Normal (rate) mode you use the rudder stick to set a rudder position. In Heading Hold (Tail Lock) mode you use the rudder stick to demand a rate of rotation.

Now back to the question in hand. Your gyro must be switched from the gyro itself (with some you can do it from the transmitter). so you have to decide before you fly. The advantage of Heading hold is that you can usually leave the tail alone which will allow you to concentrate on everything else that is going on. The disadvantage is that you will get lazy. Learning to use the tail will make life easier in the long run. When you get to flying figure 8s and spot turns it will almost be second nature if you are used to using both hands all the time. When you do eventually get to forward flight you will have to decide again whether you want to stick to the same mode that you learnt to hover, or change it over. Again there are pros and cons for both.

With regards to the blade direction. I have had a look at the pictures I have seen on the web. It looks to me that the direction that you have mentioned for both the main and tail rotor is correct. HOWEVER the tail blades should not rotate backwards. It sound like you may have the tail blades on back to front. Double check with the manual to make sure. (obvious question but just double check that when looking at the heli from the left (muffler side) the tail rotor is on the far side.

Hope this helps.

Quattro 27 do u not use ur transmitter to change the pitch of the blades as the ur set up is eCCPM or r u meant to use the links as well, im a newbie to eCCPM just incase u haven't noticed. I was told there was meant to be a 2.5mm gap between the plastic ball links or is this just some sort of startin guide?
