46 engine in a nexus 30
So I bought a new 46 engine thinking that its gonna be just plug and play... ( the newbies way of looking at stuff ) Got the engine all excited took the heli apart, took the fan off of my engine and Im trying to put it on but it doesnt fit, the threads are the same but the damn axel on the engine is a tad bigger and doesnt clear the fan. Now what do I do? Are there any other parts nessesary to do the conversation?

RE: 46 engine in a nexus 30
if you search towerhobby for nexus pinion.
there are 9t and 11t.
supposely, 46 engines run at slower speed than 32 engines.
therefore, you will need bigger pinion to drive the main gear at the same
head speed that is required for heli to function.
ie, you need 11t pinion.
used to be, there were 86t and 88t main gear for nexus, to compensate
for pinion gear diameter difference.
however, kyosho seems to have decided later on that difference is negligeble, and don't need
to be compensated.
so either 86 or 88 teeth main gear should work fine with either 9t or 11t
pinion.
even though idealy, 86t goes with 11t, and 88t goes with 9t.
but you can not buy 88t main gear anywhere anymore.

RE: 46 engine in a nexus 30
in order to make 46 engine to work in stock nexus 30, you only need engine mount and fan assembly as I mentioned.
however, nexus 46 was not just nexus 30 with 46 engine.
nexus 46 was deluxe version with flapping head and many more bearings compare to stock nexus 30.
but, if you want to make nexus 30 to deluxe 46, it would be way cheaper to get a new caliber.
