Default Looking at buying a older used Caliber 30.

I have a friend who wants to sell me a older version of the Caliber 30 for $250 with all of the flight line equipment minus the radio. Any thoughts or downfalls to an older Caliber? He claims it runs and flies just fine but stated that it is 'older'. Are most the replacement parts easily available?

As far as I know there has only been one version of the Caliber 30. So the oldest it can be is 3 years old. It's a very robust airframe and is a great learner platform (as long as you put the head in the training configuration)

I built a second C30, I was surprised how worn the first one was.

It's a 200 dollar plastic helicopter made to get in the air cheap and be affordable to fix.

We get what we pay for. All of the similar helicopters suffer the same thing to one extent or another.

They are all going to wear. My Raptor 50 has held up pretty well with a year of regular use, I just now put a metal head block on it.

Get a big 60 or 90 thats all metal and carbon and it won't wear as much but your into the 1000 plus dollar range. I'd rather have a 2 or 3 hundred dollar heli that I know I'm going to have to replace some parts on but that I am not afraid to beat on it because I can't afford to fix it.

Hi,
Take a look at tower hobbies. The caliber 30 has been discontinued. This is typical of kyosho. About the time they make something worth looking at they ax it. I would avoid it knowing parts will soon be limited. If you are looking for a Heli in that price range, I would take a look at http://centuryheli.com They have the Hawk sport for under $150.00 and the pro for $200.00 I have heard that these are good inexpensive trainers. I have seen the pro model fly, with an os32. It looked capable of the sport flying the fellow was doing.

Barracuda - Please let me know when you get your Evo .50. Mine will be here monday. Thanks again for your input on my purchase. Take care.
Hope this helps..
Jay

The Cali's not discontinued, Kyosho and Great Planes broke up so Tower isn't stocking it or parts any more, or any of the kyosho stuff for that matter.

Heliproz and Ricks both stock kits and parts, I guess they buy direct from Kyosho or Kyosho America.

ohhh ok, I just seen all the products disapear from tower and assumed. If you are a tower club member they have a brand new cal .30 in scratch and dent - new, box damage, broken tail pitch lever. ARF/wOS32 for $249.99. I like the canopy on the caliber. Thank you for the info Cuda.
