Tail rotor in flight failure...lesson learned
Hi all. I've been flying LMH's since 95 or 96 with first 110+ and a brushless corona for the last 3 years. Lost the tail rotor in flight Sunday, I was low and slow and just sat it down spinning.
Got the boom straightened yesterday and realized the tail rotor blades were no longer turning with the drive shaft. Culprit turned out to be the two long setscrews that hold the tail rotors to the drive shaft had loosened ever so slightly. A dab of loctite and a retightening fixed all.
Since I have it down, I'm finally going to fit my darthdrk Hughes 500 body to it.
Safe flights all.
