454 Clutch bell
Hey guys I just upgated my pinon and spur gears to harden metal. I had to get a new clutch bell for the xxl. The clutch bell I had to get was a threaded two speed clutch bell, the stock clutch bell was a once peice clutch bell that I could not get the pinon gear off of. When I installed the new clutch bell it seams to me that it fits a little loose and there is a bit of play when I move it back and forth. Is this normal? Also attached is a pic of my clutch shoes. To me they seem worn. I plan on replacing them, but want a better quality clutch show. Do you know where I can find these? Thanks

It just needs a shim or two. Do yourself a favor and get a m2c clutch, you'll be glad ya did.

There are shims that can be bought to properly shim the clutch. You want just a teeny little bit of in and out play on the clutchbell. The last one I shimmed, I had to shim it enough so the clutchbell didnt rub on the flywheel.

I you had an xxl you would understand. The clutch slips way too much, and I'm not gonna take the bell offto sand the shoes every run. Yeah, the stock one works, but it was a real weak point on my xxl.

put your shims on the crank before the bearings.
mclovin, my xxl wheelies on the stock clutch. i agree that they dont last long but if you clean it every half gallon it work good.
i have dynamite long-life shoes on my lst2. really impressed by these. when my xxl need a new clutch, ill get another dynamite.
