I can't think of the name of the tool, I'm at work and my brain doesn't work that well here. Mine is red you remove the glow plug and it screws in where the glow plug was, it will stop the piston at TDC which will allow you to loosen the clutch nut. I hope I explained this correctly.

Take off the exhaust and use a cable tie to stop the piston from moving make, shore you use a strong cable tie. It works for me.

It's a piston locking tool by DYNAMITE

Or you can just use a pair of channel locks, But that marks up the flywheel, I you are in a pinch take out the glow plug and insert a zip tie in the sleeve to keep th piston locked. This way you do not mar the sleeve or the piston.

LSTMAN,
If this is the first time taking of the clutch bell, I highly recommend heating the Clutchbell screw with some sort of heat source!! The threadlock on mine made me strip the hex screw and then I had a new can of worms to deal with. Then I heated up the screw with a soldering iron and D%%N it came right out!!! Hope this helps!!

Plus if any of you guys are using the PISTON LOCKING TOOL, It is very handy by the way I use a small piece of fuel tubing or the rubber boot off of a new glow plug on the end of it not to damage the piston. I'm sure it is fine with out it. But I'm paranoid that way!!! LOL

channel locks worked great - if your careful you can put a rag around the clutch bell then grab onto it with the channel locks - and well.. that worked for me

Becareful when using the piston locking tool, it's not hard to snap either the pins at the big or little end of the conrod. Just watch how much torque you put on it.

I used some pliers like these to grip the fly wheel. The screw came straight out

Yea grips on the flywheel do the job....better of heating the screw with a soldering iron, dont know if a hairdryer will get hot enough...

Dude, A hair dryer might do it but I would higly recommend a soldering iron, I re thread locked that srew but I did not use red thread lock I used blue. Which holds good and you do not have to heat it to get the screw out.

Check your clutch nut and make sure it's tight. I had the same problem and then tightened the clutch nut and I was able to hold the flywheel and remove the screw. Of course, this won't work until you take the backplate off and stop the piston from moving. It will work next time though, and you won't have to take the backplate off again.

I used a pair of vise grips with a rag. Good advise to use a hair dryer or something to heat it up. I kept doing the "righty-tighty lefty-loosey" in my head as I was thinking I was tightening it. It's on there good and tight.

There are 4 washers, the schematics(sp?) didn't really show but I guess 3 go on the inside of the bell (between the bearing and clutch) and 1 on the outside of the other bearing beteen it and the screw. Correct? I hope.
