ok to use 4 standard AA batts for reciever?
I just bought (as in yesterday) a LST and with it being my 1st ever r/c car of any kind (WOW it sure is big!!!)
I knew i was going to run into problems but did think it would be this soon!!!
the guy at my local modelshop supplied me with everything i needed (or so i thought) to get it up and running so i got it home, read the quick setup guide and started installing all the batts and stuff.... found out he gave me the a 5 cell 6volt reciever hump pack which doesnt fit as i needed the flat pack and he doesnt sell em
would i be able to use 4 standard AA batterys for the reciever to break the engine in or should i wait a week for the rechargeable 6v battery pack ive ordered?

hmm wished i'd have posted on here sooner coz ive already taken the hump pack back for refund
im stuck with 2100 nimh rechargeables for transmitter and loads of standard AA batterys.... you think i should wait for flat reciever battery to come nxt week or try normal AA batts (would they last until i break engine in?)

the AAs will be fine for break in and for bashing just make sure you have lots of them in the tool box . If the truck starts to act a little funny and slow to respond its time to change. also a tester is a good idea the plane guys use them all the time even with fresh bateries you never know

On a side note, the alkaline's may cause glitching. My glitching problem went away after I install a hump pack, when I go back to the AA's the glitching reappears.

there is a right way and wrong way to install the reciever pack under the tank. if your using the AA pack, make sure that the batteries are not laying on the aluminum chassis (place it so that the plastic part of the pack is touching the frame!) otherwise you will be glitching cause when the motor is running the pack will vibrate on the frame!

I'm not sure what the average lifespan of AA's are but my first set lasted 4 tanks and the second set about 6 tanks (with minor glitching).. since then I switched to a hump pack.
