Hot Bodies Keep Breaking
Hi All,
This is about my 5th set of these Hot Bodies and I've had it. The wheel wobbles and then eventually falls off from the inside plastic, which holds the wheel on the axle just tearing out as if it was never attached to the wheel. The red in the picture below shows the plastic area that contstantly rips out of each wheel. Some hobby guy told me I should glue my hexes to the wheels but I am not sure that will actually fix the whobbles and stuff. The back wheel flew off today without any sign or warning. The front wheel has the wobbles right now and I'm not sure if it's from the axle or the wheel. I'll need to swap it out to find out. What are some good wheels and do any of you know if alloy wheels would help?
Thanks,
LC

I saw those but are they alloy or the same? Might have the same issue [:'(]

No they are plastic, but just check out some of 2DMax's videos. He says that they are really tough rims and a set of 4 rims and tires is only $60.

If you are considering a new set of wheels and you are looking for the 40 series, Proline has new wheels, and hubs that should take care of this. Go to their web site for a peek. Recently I had a set of momba's break and sent them in for warranty and I paid for the hubs and they will be sending me the new wheels and tires. These are 23 mm and fit over your current axles. I have seen the wheels at my LHS and they look really sturdy and it appears they will handle the weight of our LST's. My LHS had the hubs for the Savage and they look like an 8th scale buggy set up. Info for now and when proline sends me my stuff I will give a full report.

I WANT a set of these, but just ordered 2 other sets of wheels and tyres and 2 new bodies, so I betterr lay low for a while...the wife isn't going to be very impressed [:'(]

Me and my buddy had a friend of ours put two screws threw the aluminum hex hub into the proline dish wheel. This definitely helped.
Now that the season is over, I have the 23mm wheels from proline as mentioned above for when the racing season starts again.

Also remember that being sure the wheel nuts are tight seems to help prevent the hexes stripping out.
Hot Bodies wheels have always sucked hard core.
