6 tanks and a washer
I've been lirking on the group list since X-mas with #6478. And now have a couple of questions.
1. I've been having a little trouble getting the shift point set right, the screws are in good working order and the shoes and springs are pretty well matched. It right now is running at 3.5 turns out but I'm not seeing a shift to second gear especially in low range. The Slipper is set at about .75 turns back off and the LST is demanding wheelies if punched.
2. The washer after 6 tanks is calipered at .0071" thick and convexed and out of round. Glad I took a look. But also noticed a disturbing amount of metal residue inside the crank case. Recommend a course of action, or just continue to have fun?!?
This is my .21 sized RC since 1989 Kyosho BurnsDX, and since then have been a loyal AE user.
Allot of technology has changed since then and this LST has convinced me that LOSI has done in my opinion a great job!

it looks great mate but going back to your questions. take the washer out it'll destroy your engine, see the sticky at the top of the page. I don't know about the gear change mine worked fine straight out of the box

Wow that workshop is the dogs .............. im stuck on the dining room table....[]
Anyway your questions.
Remove that metal now. Strip and wash that engine through with fuel. If you put that washer back then remove it again and bin it.
I though my LST wasnt shifting into second when i first got mine but it was shifting very early and was hard to notice. Try pulling away slower and gradually increasing the throttle.

If I pull away easy in high range setting then I notice a shift at about the right time, but in low range it seams to not shift at all. The shifting is very subtle on this LST.
I did chuck the washer and washed things out really good. But am a little concerned about damage already done and if I voided a repair by my action.

The shift in low range is unnoticable. It's geared so low, that you can't even tell it's shifting.
Nice shop!
How about a pic of the Burns buggy next to the LST? I always wanted a Burns when I was a kid, but we never had enough money.

I sold the Kyosho Burns in.. oh.. I think it was 1991 to a friend while in the service in the Philipinnes islands. I still have some awesome video footage taken in Hong Kong jumping some small water ways.
As for my workshop, it has served it use for building and repairing many RC models over the years. Every thing from miniature helicopters to large giant scale planes to my kids bikes.

Hey mrdakota, I used to have the frog! [:'(] and a Kyosho LandJump http://www.landjump.com/restored.html (its not mine)
Glad to see another aviation enthusiast here. I finished up my Private last spring and bought a Cherokee 180 till I get the RV-10 I'm building done. (I'm hoping 4 years) http://www.vansaircraft.com/public/rv-10int.htm
Is that your chute? Ever been to or think of going to Sun and fun?

RE: 6 tanks and a washer
I've been flying powered parachutes for about 4 years now and love getting up in the air to relax and enjoy the country side.
I used to go to Sun and Fun every other year but last year, I broke the tradition and might have to go instead this spring.
My freinds own a small airport in southern WI that I keep my machine at for my efforts in assy. a Velocity (cannard type).
