Default Is there a correct direction for clutch shoes?

If you saw my earlier post, I just replaced my clutch shoes with the new improved clutch with silver springs. Now that I've reassembled everything I've got a slight problem. As I try to start the engine, the truck lurches forward as the spin-starter spins! Even when the clutch springs were broken (and all three broke before I just replaced it), this never happened. So, my first question is whether this is a clutch issue? If so, do the clutch shoes need to be oriented in a particular direction? Or, is there something else at play here? The engine won't start either, but it all seems to be related.

Also make sure your not srewing down tight onto the clutchbell bearing. The clutch bell should spin free with no binding.

I don't agree with LST UK, the clutch bell retaining screw must be socketed down tightly, if any binding is occuring when you do this it is because the shims are'nt right. The retaining screw washer must bear against the shaft, not the bearing. Squeezing the bearing will bind up the bell.

I didnt say to keep it loose just not to tighten it onto the bearing. Was just trying to get his LST moving without confusing him with detail.

Thanks for all of the replies. In an amazing moment of ignorance, my buddy started the truck with the clutch bell off. (He wanted to see the clutch motion and if it was working properly). Needless to say, once he gave it some gas, springs and shoes went everywhere. It's a good thing that the starter is on the opposite side of the truck, or he might have caught something in his eye. Anyway, I'm going to buy a kyosho or savage clutch as my replacement, depending on what the LHS has in stock. Do I need to also buy a new clutch bell if I do this?

i am currently run stock savage shoes and springs and was wondering if anybody has tried r unning savage shoes with lighter springs(have some mugen seiki 1.0's) this should make the lst launch hard and fast(as long as the springs don't dissegrate like the stockers)
