Werks Racing 4 Shoe Power Clutch Question
I've seen some posts where some of you guy's are running this clutch. What is the shoe combo? Rulon & Teflon, Rulon and carbon of carbon and Teflon? Also does the Mach .26 have an SG shaft so that you can use part # WRX6502? I am running the 3 shoe Ofna aluminum shoes right now. Is there a big improvement by switching to this clutch? If so, what will I notice most of all by switching? Thanks!

RE: Werks Racing 4 Shoe Power Clutch Question
wrx6502 comes with the red rulon shoes, 6501 with the carbon and 6503 with teflon. All these will fit onto the mach shaft. You mix up the shoe compounds to tune the clutch feel to however you like it. I use two carbon with two rulon.
I run on road so am used to centax style clutches and this clutch is the closest I could find to the feel of these clutches that can be used for off road purposes. The adjustability is fantastic.

RE: Werks Racing 4 Shoe Power Clutch Question
I agree with what Adoika said, I would just add that I have had mine in for over three gallons and it is going good. I started with all Rulon shoes but went to two carbon and two rulon.
I have several high res-pics of my installation if you need them let me know.

RE: Werks Racing 4 Shoe Power Clutch Question
You must shim the clutchbell away from the face which moves to allow engagement. Note Carbon and Rulon shoes with over 2Gallons
My clutch bell bolt is the bottom one, I don't know where I got the spacer from but it is there.
I suggest having a selection of collets or at least two incase the flywheel contacts the case.
Here it is all togeather.
I have never had to do anything to this clutch past the initial setup and I have over three gallons on the current shoes.

It is tunable in several different areas from the combination's of the shoes and spring weight.
It seems to handle all the abuse I can through at it. I used to worry about frying the clutch in my Tmaxx just from accelerating in heavy grass. I have over 3 gallons on these shoes and I am pusing a LST with it.
That's all I can think of right now.

I have read you don't want to run in snow or very wet conditions with the rulon shoes because they will slip and the friction will melt them. I just ordered this clutch for my LST. [8D]

RE: Werks Racing 4 Shoe Power Clutch Question
I learned the hard way to do those mods you posted above
I've got the same rub marks
I do have a couple of questions though....
The Ti-Ni gears used to line-up nicely with the stock clutch. With four shims as indicated in the picture above, I've got about a 1/4 of each Spur hanging to the inside of the pinion. Its a bit of a concern. i guess I could take off a washer which may help.
Also, I did not initially use loctite on the clutch spring nut and it looked like it tightend up on me. I used loctite to hold it just a turn in from the initial setting. Doesn't feel like there is hardly any pressure on the spring and what's to keep that nut in place as it isn't a locknut. Do you do the same or did yours stay where you adjusted it?
Got some upgrade parts today including stock shoes just in case....

RE: Werks Racing 4 Shoe Power Clutch Question
i have this clutch in my savage with the rb 28 and the distance between the CB and spur is tight buy it fits. i had the stock 3 shoe set up and i was pulling wheelies like crazy. now with the werks clutch i don't but i have to adjust it to grab a little later so the engine has time to build up rpm. my question is my spur gear is getting very hot now is that b/c the clutch is slipping? the slipper clutch is already tight this just started when i changed to the werks clutch. can anyone with this in the savage help me out????

2DMax Are you sure you don't remimber where you got the spacer for the end of the crankshaft the one on the screw in your pic? I have 2 diff. sizes and they are to long. I got other ideas maybe even grind one of the ones I have down to fit but if I can get a real short one I'd be happier.

RE: Werks Racing 4 Shoe Power Clutch Question
Thanks . I have a OFNA kit and the spacers are alittle to long. I decided to use alot of shims on the screw end. It's on the engine and feels real good. Thanks again.
