Default Batteries

Would you prefer a KAN 1050 mah for $2.40 per cell or a CBP 1150 mah for $2.10 per cell?

Which is better performance?

Which will last longer?

Would it be better to buy a pre-built pack or a custom pack that someone else builds?

If you have good soldering skills and understand how to build a pack correctly I'd go with the CPB loose cells.Cheaper and apparently of higher capacity

I have had experience with both of these cells and the CBP1150 are outstanding cells. Great bang for the buck.

"Power your large scale racer's radio with Venom's 6.0 volt receiver pack. Our 3000mah receiver pack will give you the power you need for as long as you need it. Designed to fit right in without modifications or soldering."

What do you guys think? Longer run time while using just one pack, right?

That's a 1/5 scale pack and is probably made of sub-c type cells.Won't fit in a stock location anywhere on the LST

I used the pictures link to get to the website.Bad marketing in that they don't give the dimensions of the pack or even the cell size.Might want to mention that to them to save them some future headaches

Peace [8D]

The largest capacity pack that I've found (actually someone else here found it) that will fit in any of the stock locations is a 2400 AA cell nimh pack such as the team helotes 2400 AA pack ( http://www.teamhelotes.com/users/main/catalog/i8.html ) which fits under the tank by removing the support partition.

It's a little off topic, but does anyone know if you can change the battery in the Hot Shot 2 glow plug ignitor from Hobbico?

What glow plug ignitor is everyone using?

Do people use two battery packs in the LST? If so how do they wire those Series or Parallel? Also does this add to much current for the receiver to handle? Premature death to the receiver? I just got my receiver back from horizon and the tech said to make sure I have no servo humm, because this will cause to much current draw and that is what fried my receiver.. I say humm. Thanks

Default RE: Batteries

i actually run 3 packs in my lst
i have a 1100 flat pack under the truck.
Then i have a 1200 hump pack under the tank which is soldered in parallel with another
1200 hump pack that i've zip tied (electrical cable ties) to the front shock tower, that gives me 2400 mah + the 1100 under neath for back up.
i ran 6 tanks at the track last sunday on the 2400 pacs (2 x1200) and the voltage is still reading 6.53 volts.
So i dont know how long it will last before recharging but i think it will be quite a while.
Also the weight of the three batteries really doesnt seem to affect the performanc at all.

Cheers john

Are your receiver packs AA's or 2/3A's?

the two joined ones are "Venom" 5 cell 1200 mah hump packs (i guess thats 2/3A's), The one underneath is a "venom" 5 cell 1100 mah flat pack.

..............when you wire batteries in series your voltage is added [ + to - + to - ; think of batteries in a flashlight] when you do this with two 6V packs you will have 12v and burn up everthing.

..............when you wire batteries in parallel your voltage is the same, but Ampacity is doubled. Ampacity is just the capacity of amperage that is avail. [+ to + and - to -] just like jumper cables on a car. So if you have two 1200 mah packs (milli amp hours) in parallel, you will have 6v and 2400mah giving longer run time.

If your servos are fighting each other because they are not properly centered or what not; that may cause excessive current flow. Hmmm...current is based upon the LOAD that is on the system.-----------> 4 100W light bulbs pull more current thand 6 60 W bulbs.

my 3 cents

Thank you for your 3 cents. I guess I know the theory, but not to good at applying it. V=IR P=IV Power is work performed?? cant remember the defination of it?

I am a master electrician. You are right. Some people say E=IR saying that E is for electromotive force (same as voltage). Power is easy as pie. P=IE

So basically you can just go to a hobby shop and get a Y harness that will parallel your packs for you. or buy this.......
