Default My homemade Wheelie bar

I had a problem keeping my Lst down and I really like riding those long wheelies so I built a wheelie bar similar to the new era jobbie on my Emaxx but knew the aluminum wouldn't hold up without bending so I made it out of .090 mild steel with aircraft landing gear wheels. Worked okay until a few bad landing off jumps impacted the wheelie bar until the wheels were pushed up into the bumper, then wheelying on pavement ground the wheels flat on one side. Version 2.0 was made from .125 chrome moly plate left over from my race car and has larger wheels, virtually unbendable without EXTREME force. I tried to adjust the angle with it in a vise and hitting it with a 32 oz. hammer and it barely bent, had to use two large crescent wrenches to get the bend it needed. After weeks of bashing and jumping and wrecking and careening it has proven unbendable( on the truck). I wonder if this a desirable item. Am I the only one who has destroyed the commercially available aluminum style?

It looks like it would stop a real car from flipping over. Looks good, but heavy! 1/8" CM steel should never bend on a 8 scale monster truck.

Yeah with that engine and those tires it will ride a wheelie all thru 1st and 2nd in high range. I was kind of curious if there was anyone interested in one of these if I produced them. Replaces the rear aluminum chassis plate completely so that offsets the weight gain slightly, I'll weigh it when I get a chance. Anyone interested, speak up. Thanks

I run my slipper at 3/4 turn out, any tighter and it contributes to gear wear. The bar will require some investigating on steel prices before I can give a price. Thanks
