Default SH .28 Pro carb

I noticed that the carb on my new SH .28 Pro fits perfectly into my Mach .26.The carb throat is larger than the Sportwerks carb I have.Would the SH .28 carb on a Mach .26 be even better, or
would it be to much?

I think you are fine to use it. I think has a 9mm venturi like the sportwerks carb everyone uses on their Mach. Let me know how it works for you.

I took the restrictor out of the Sportwerks carb. The SH is definately larger.I'll measure it tonight with a digital caliper & ballgauge to compare the bore.Let you guys know tomorrow.Still don't know if it will be too much.Like putting a 850 cfm carb on a mild 302 v8 when a 650 works best. I'll see what happens after I get my LST back together. I'll leave the Mach in for now so I can try both the Sportwerks & SH carbs.

I have both. I have the SH28 and the Sportwerks with the 9mm insert (not the one that comes with it) and they look the same. Let me know what you get when you measure, cause I'm curious also.

Sportwerks on Mach with 9mm insert.....

SH28, eyeballed at 9mm (I'm hoping I knocked the dirt on there removing the air filter)

I'm speaking of the smallest diameter of the ventrui.

BTW,how do you like the SH .28? More power than the Mach? Easy to tune? Durability? What percentage fuel seems to work best? It's a bolt-in,right? Thanks-Mike

It bolts right in, is very easy to tune and makes very good power at 210 and the entire backplate from a Mach bolts right on. It seems to have more low to mid range power than the Mach. I run 30% with all my engines. I can't stress how easy it is to tune. I really like it.

Thanks 2DMAXLST! It'll be a while before I get it in there. Hopefully get it back together this weekend with the pile of hop-ups in it. I can't wait to get her going again[sm=devious.gif]!

Ok.I got a chance to measure the venturi bore on both the Sportwerks & SH .28 carbs. The Sportwerks meas 0.312".the SH .28 meas 0.343".Note,these are rough measurements(couldn't find my ballgauge set) & are taken from the underside of the carb with no restrictor installed. I may be wrong, but I think the SH .21 pro carb is the same as the Sportwerks carb.Looks the same in the pictures, looks to have a black body & restrictor. Anyone know if the SH .28 carb would be too much for the Mach.26?-Mike

0.343 inch = 8.7122 millimeter. I'm using the 9mm insert for the sportwerks so I think it will work just fine.

Edit: Doh!! I just realized I may be talking about something else, you are talking about the sleeve of the carb and will it physically fit between the two engines....

Not the restrictor, but the carb body itself. No matter what size restrictor you install, the carb body dimensions will not change. If you have both engines/carbs,remove the carbs & look from the underside. There is a definate difference, even to the naked eye.

Yeah, I finally figured out what you were talking about. I loaned my SH28 to my friend who has it installed in his racer, it is a really nice engine.
