installing alum diff case problem

installing alum diff case problem
i am installing these things and when i put the top on and screw it down sometimes i cant even spin the driveshaft with my hand and if i can it is kinda rough. shouldnt it be smooth? how can i fix this problem? am i doing something bad? other than this on thing it has been a simple installation. thanks.

i dunno what might be wrong but when i put the diff back into the stock case it seems to be quite a bit smoother. any help would be much appreciated!!!

It needs to be shimmed. As you are looking down, take the shim off the left side of the diff, by the bearing, and put it on the right side. Then after assembling, check for smooth gear mesh.

The reason it is smooth in your stock case is part of the reason that the stock cases break so easily: Lots of play in the case. The aluminum cases have much tighter tolerances.
