Possible to start a V-Spec?
I have a V-Spec and it is a real screamer, but it has a backplate and can be only startedwith a starter box. Is there any way that anyone can figure out to start an engine with no pullstart, rotostart or belt starter? Thanks.

RE: Possible to start a V-Spec?
I pondered it myself, as I have a Mod .28XR sitting here, but just went ahead and bought an RB .28 pull. I think it is possible, as Native Racing made a handheld bumpstarter with a very small wheel to fit their Tmaxx race chassis', and with the proper brackets, the Savage and UE Supermaxx. The LST flywheel may be accessible with that starter, but a bracket would have to be made, and the drive cable may interfere with the rest of the truck, suspension, etc. Good luck.

You'd need find a pull start backplate that would fit. Maybe OS could recommend something. You could always try contacting them telling them what you'd like to do and see if they might offer a solution.

Dnell, it'd take a lotta fabrication to put a pullstart on an OS VZ.
for me, it doesn't have enough bottom end punch for an MT engine. drop 130 on a Mach 26 or an XTM .247, you'll be happier with it.

not made to, but it wouldn't be TOO hard to adapt it.
however, it's way more work than *I* would deem worth bothering. I say just drop in an M26, XTM .247 or an SH.28

RE: Possible to start a V-Spec?
Though the V-spec is a screamer for buggies (at a good price!), it's still a .21. These days, big-block MTers are silly not to START at .27 and go up towards Collari's .32. There are lotsa choices in the .28 class, and therefore the prices are getting pretty low!!
But you say you have one, so your question is certainly valid, though it appears the answers you're getting aren't that good.

dean, we're trying to talk him out of it, because he'd wind up spending LESS money on buying a nice .25ish ci big block than converting said V spec into a pullstart engine, and thus potentially ruining it.
Don't complain about the answers not being that good unless you have something better to contribute.

I have several .26 Sportwerks blocks and I just tried the LST for the firstr time...this truck is truly amazing. I have sway bars with Bowties and it drove like a monster buggy. Very pleased with the Sportwerks mill. Gave up on the V-Spec idea and went for the .26
