Is it ok to break in the mach 26 lst motor with 35% nitro fuel?
Hi!
Is it ok to break in the mach 26 lst motor with 35% nitro fuel?
The fuel used is 35% Tornado (the most expensive and best fuel in the world according to its producer t2m).
I heard that one should use 10-15% nitro once?
thx

Why would you want to? Break the engine in with what you are going to run in it. There arent any engines, stock, set up for 35% that I know of. Most of them can get by on 30% without reshimming, but the manufacturers recommend adding shims anyway. To be honest, pushing the Mach with 35%, even if reshimmed, would be asking for problems. It isn't the most reliable engine out there, you are just asking for trouble.

I think 35% is strictly race. I run 20% all day. I would not think of using anything higher than 30% All I use is trinity, but odonell is nice also many people dislike BLUE THUNDER.

I've used many different brands of fuel over the years (Traxxas, Duratrax, Blue Thunder, ect.). By no means have I tried them all, but when I came across O'Donnell, it made my engines purr so perfectly that I stopped looking. It also put an end to my one-way bearing problems. I run 20%.
Personally, I wouldn't go any higher than 25% unless you're into hardcore racing....and then only if you know what you're doing with shimming.

If you take off the head button (the part the glow plug screws into) you will find a copper shim or O-ring. Its purpose is to correct the timing. A larger (thicker) shim will retard the timing, while a smaller (thinner) shim will advance the timing. Just as changing the glow plug can change the timing i.e. changing from a hot plug to a cold plug will retard the timing and vice versa will advance the timing. If you run a high nitro content, usually just running a cold plug will solve any detonation problems. If you have an engine that is already designed to run cold plugs, then you might need a larger head shim.

I broke all my Mach's in on 20% O"Donnel, and had temp problems ,I switch to 25% Trinity and the temps droped 40* so I can run leaner with out temps getting away and they are awsome. I use it now in all my engines.

well i think you should break it in on 20% first then go from there. and the reason that higher % nitro content makes your engine run cooler is probably because you could tune it richer and still have a nice concentration of nitro or the part of the fuel that combust. IMHO i really not too sure. but ya higher % nitro does make your engine run cooler it tuned right.
