Default TiNi Gears on LST 2.

Does the TiNi spur gears mesh with the LST 2 one piece clutch bell pinions? I have the stock Mach 27 pushed all the way back and it still is binding. Do I have to change to the clutch bell with the removeable pinions in order to run the TiNI spur gears?

yes, you have to run the lst1 clutch bell to use the conversion kit (it is threaded)
(the lst2 is a one piece)

edit:

did you buy the tini conversion kit or just the spur gears?

Thanks,
Rocky

I bought the TiNi set. before I realized the LST 2 had a one piece bell. See I have the LST 1 and bought the gears because of stripping problems. So when my Brother bought the LST 2 I told him to just go ahead and order the gears also because of my experience with the stripped gears. And now when he finally stripped his spurs we found out about the one piece bell. Decided to try it out and mesh isnt right was just wondering if it could or couldnt be done with the one piece bell. Here in Hawaii lots of tiny rocks= Lots of stripped gears

That is not true I am running the TiNi gears with the LST2 clutchbell I bought the lst 1 bell to swap in later with the TiNi gears but for now it works fine something else is causing the bind. make sure the trans gears spin freely that it is not binding on the 2spd clutch or bearing.

i believe your getting binding because you dont have the gears in the correct position, try turning one or both of them around (flip them over) and i think youll be okay, i had to play with mine the night i installed them and eventually they fit like a charm. I f the large gear is upside down it will bind against the cler dust shield when you try to tighten everthing back up.

Your right I meant you have to use the lst1 clutch bell to use the TiNi pinion gears.
You can use the spur gears with the stock clutch bell (one piece)

Thanks,
Rocky

I checked everything out and from what i can see everything is put together the way it should be but I still cant get the mesh right. Its way too tight and the motor is pushed all the way to the back. It sounds really high pitched like a real truck sounds when its running performance gearing (high pitched screaming) even when I am just rolling it around by hand. Can anyone think of what else it could be thats causing this problem?

If your referring to the stock lst2 mach 427 engine then yes it will fit. You can use all the bearings and hardware too.
I had to replace the bearings and clutches on mine they were all shot.

You should look into the forward only kit also if you haven't yet
Made a huge difference on mine (lst2).

Thanks,
Rocky

Are the benefits of the forward only that great? And if so could you tell me what they are?

It takes some of the rotating mass out of the transmission.(reverse gears and low range gears)
Not only that but removing the reverse servo and arm too.

If you like having reverse and low range then don't get it.

On mine before installing it I could never wheelie, but now if I don't watch it I'll flip over backwards.
There seems to be more power applied to the wheels now.

Thanks,
Rocky

I dont get the TiNi gears...

if you get the spurs then your pinions will just take the damage from an incorrect alignment.

except plastic spurs are like 3$, and even LST1 pinion gears seperate are 6 or 7 each, 15$ for the LST2 1peice. and good lord if you have a set of 30$ 8mans? Id rather screw up the spurs. like everything else, strengthen 1 thing and anothers gonna get torn up.

I hear ya. I have found i have better acceleration with out the TiNi gears (those suckers are heavy!), way too much rotating mass IMO and with metal pinions on plastic spurs, the only thing i have ever replaced are the spurs.
