Default Carbon fiber chassis ?'s

Hello all,

I am going through my LST now and replacing all that needs to be replaced. I found that both my top plates that sit under the RX and tank have broken tabs where the screws go in.

Question 1

Is there a good way to make these yourself?

Question 2

type of carbon fiber to use to make your own replacements?

Question 3

Is it better to just buy a replacement?

Question 4

Who else makes them other than Losi?

Thanks

Jon

holeshot makes them. they sent me a bulked up version after I had a similair problem.

though I fear it may just be one of those parts that needs some flex to absorb landings, being that it is such a thin area. holeshot says they strengthened it though.

as for making it yourself, I donno. ussually they make it with a water jet, to rather precise dimensions.

www.psycho-tek.com makes them also...

I just recieved my psycho tek chassis and both top plates yesterday.. I won mine on ebay for like 45.00, but you can purchase direct from them.. they have them on sale right now for around 63.00 for the 3 peice set... They are packaged nicely and come with a sticker sheet

I am waiting on my hex head screws to get here to convert over to the new chassis, but the chassis has very clean cuts and the quality of the carbon fiber looks top notch.. its also 3mm thick as the hole shot is 2.5mm... will this make a difference?? I have no idea, but thicker bits of carbon fiber for a cheaper price.. kinda a no brainer

just another option for ya

for what its worth, the holeshot saves 4.4oz, theirs says 2oz

is there a big difference? guess not. depends on your priorities and general use.

4.3 weight savings is for the full conversion..

I was just talking about the top 3 plates.. but hole shot is still a little lighter.. I think maybe a 1/2 oz

Yes they are very durable... 2dmax has a nice pic floating around the forum showing the durability of his carbon fiber chassis

I should say top plates, I will always use the LOSI HP hard ano lowers. I installed the carbon on my racer in Jan05 and it's all I've ever raced.

I use the Xtreme racing carbon fiber conversion kit:

http://www.xtremercracing.com/Store_...ShowLarge=True

I think i might be the only one on here that is using it. I have it in my racer and has been carried over from my LST1 to my new LST2 which sees a lot of track time. Pieces fit really nice and i like the fact that if need be, you can order replacement parts individually. Being that i dont have a piece of plate aluminum on my whole LST surely cut back some weight, and like i said they have proven to be very durable.
