Problem with LST2, started before now will not start
I've been having some problems with my new LST2. Got the truck a few weeks ago and after leaning out the low speed idle got the truck starting pretty good. Then it would not move, found out the engine was still running too rich, so I leaned it out a bit more.
After checking the engine for any heat, it never got hot enough to boil water off the heatsink. Finally the truck was able to move but still very slow, after a few minutes the truck died, and since then I can not get it started. I checked for flooding, changed the plugs, checked the glow plug, not sure what else I'm missing.
Could the engine fowl the glow plugs? The plugs are still getting hot but it's only the inside core that glows red, not the end tip.
Thanks for any comments, coming on 4 weeks and still not able to run this truck.
Rob

What fuel are you using? Stock plug? What % nitro? Have you taken it back to factory needle settings and tried again? If it's still in break-in... it is extremely fat on the high needle... I had to lean it out a hair to get the truck to even move...
I would take the needles back to factory... change the plug... and try again.

I'm using 20% fuel, it's about 3 weeks old, kept in a dark area and sealed. The plugs are mediums and had the same results with my stock plug and the new plug. I changed it back to factory but still the same results. What is strange before at stock settings I was able to at least get the truck running for a little bit, but now I can't even get it to fire.

Check for compression... make sure fuel is getting to the carb... try leaning it out a little... if that doesn't work... *shrug* I dunno....

RE: Problem with LST2, started before now will not start
I got some good advice on here about my new LST2
Try the following.
Close both high and low needles (clockwise). Then open them three and a half turns each (counter clockwise)
Charge your glow plug ignitor fully.
Charge the truck receiver pack fully
Make sure the batteries in the transmitter are good.
Take the plug that came with the truck, put the ignitor on it, if it glows red then its a good plug, if not try your other plug, if this glows then ok, if not I'd try a different ignitor.
Fill the tank with fuel.
Press the primer until you see fuel pass through the filter and just enter the carb.
Give it one more press.
Switch on the truck.
Switch on the transmitter.
You should see the servos line up when the transmitter is switched on.
Put the ignitor on the plug.
Insert starter and crank.
Keep cranking and you'll hear the engine start to fire, if you hear this crank a bit more, the engine will fire.
Leave the ignitor on for a few seconds.
Take the ignitor off, if the truck stalls, lean out the high needle by one twelve a turn clockwise. No more as these small turns make a big difference.
Crank again, remove ignitor and it should run.
Let it run, don't worry too much about moving the truck at the start, you want to get plenty of oil around the engine. At this stage the engine will not be very responsive at all, give it a little throttle. Let it run for about three minutes then stop it.
Leave for about 20 mintures then repeat.
Do this for about three 3 minute runs.
Then follow this link

Hope this helps, if not post back, plenty of good advice and helpful people on here

If you're in California, it's been really hot, right?
By my experience, the factory settings are for approx 70 degree weather not far from sea level.
If it's 90+ and if you have any altitude at all, you're going to have to really lean it pretty good to get it to run.
Let us know when you finally figure it all out. We learn, too!

RE: Problem with LST2, started before now will not start
Thanks! I do get good compression on the engine but nothing else I can figure.
I do live in the Bay Area California, near sea level and it's been warmer than before. Once again I'll try leaning out the engine again, last time this worked. Going to post what resolves this once I find what is the problem.
Thanks,
Rob
