Default Broken clutch Spring

Last weekend when I ran my LST and I noticed that I had to keep on the brakes to keep it from rolling away. I knew right away that one of the clutch springs must have broken. I took off the clucth bell and one spring was broken. I ordered the Savage shoes and springs online, but sadly it did not arrive on time for this weekend. I really want to run it this weekend, so I wonder if it is possible to just remove the shoe with the broken spring entirely and run with 2 shoes? Has anyone tried this? I think it should work, but wanted to see what people thought before I do it tomorrow.

thanks

you can but it will wear them uneven and it will slip a lot ....... it would work to go easy but a true bash i would worry the motor would suffer [>:]

well i don't really care if the shoes wear uneven since the replacement shoes are in the mail. What do you mean the motor will suffer?

thanks

see when your motor get to the power band around the rated horse power ..... with one less shoe the clutch will slip and the motor will max out rpm's and could blow up...... so if you are careful of that you can still drive it

that makes sense.

I better not run it with only 2 shoes then. Especially since the axial 32 is so strong...It may slip real bad.

thanks for the info

not sure if the missing spring/shoe will cause a balance issue or not but if so it would maybe cause excessive wear on the crank and bearings ....... just something to consider

so is anyone here running the hpi shoes and springs?

I finally found a store that had it (most stores seem to carry the traxxass stuff....2 shoe setup).

I noticed that the hpi springs are not quite as thick as the losi ones. Anyone else notice this?

the savvy shoes are great, I recommend them to customers all the time and have yet to have a customer complain...
