I agree on the pipe thing. Run anything else other then the exhaust on there now. The JP-2 is "known" for being a mid range power exhaust. If you really get down to details it really would come to what/how you want to run the truck. Build first thing worry about the engine later. You can always swop one out if it doesnt have the power ur looking for

Alright sweet. Do you want this for top speed or dragster because that will defanetely determine what kind of pipe you will need. I think stick with your engine now to save some money and get some other good stuff. ( pipe radio etc ) You really don't need to have a new engine the mach is fine considering the little amount of weight you are going to have. Wich can make you gear it alot higher.
dragster. I think you use a short pipe for power and long for rpm?

Its the opposite. I would use a .28, Picco, Werks..etc with a pipe made by the same company, something like a 086. Jammin' pipes aren't the best pipes for every motor but they work well with alot of them.

ithink i found a body that fits
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...p?&I=LXNZU2&P=
i was just looking for a body for one of my trucks and found it. i dont know what the wheel base is on the dragster but if 40 series their about 4 inches wide each tire so thats 8 inches total for tires and the frame looks like another 4 or 5 inches so it may work. looks good and good luck ,a vid soon or spring would be nice

Thanks jombo,

I must of missed this body. I think it will work! The truck is 11" 1/2 wide and the wheel base is 18"

Good looking out!

Hang on guys; I have a job you know

So here it is so far. After tearing apart several engines I decided to try out the stock Mach 26. However I have added a little twist! Everyone wants a good looking head. First I polished the top only and then I removed the paint from the mating surfaces. The final touch was to grind the paint off of the side fins only. Now this is a nice head job and it did not cost anything!

Next was the porting, Note: don’t mess with the timing! When you scream you open your mouth as wide as you can so I did the same with this engine and open the exhaust port by 2mm followed by a good polishing.

The final faze was to let it breath. I removed the tiny carb and replaced it with an Associated 25316 Carb.

PS: I am still waiting for the front wheels?

good idea with the motor, though now you will have to find some pretty strong clutch springs. with the bigger carb and ports, you will constantly be reving the engine to keep it running. it looks great. keep workin on it because when this project is over, it will be well worth it.

if its a drag racer i would go with very stiff springs in the back and in the front i would go with like 3lbs spring rate. if to soft go harder springs if to hard go softer.

Sorry, I meant clutch springs.

FYI: It does not have any springs in the rear; it is bolted to the frame.

I have had the same idea. I haven’t figured out how to stretch the body. One thought is to cut just behind the cab and fabricate a truck bed out of aluminum? Thanks for the input.

im not to sure about what springs to use(Ill try and look for you later tonight), but i would try and make my own funny car body. it wouldnt be that hard. first sketch it a few times form different angles then make a rough shape form cardboard or cut up some manila file folders. affter try to make a male mold out of a solid block of wood(balsa is very easy to carve and sand, then wax it and make a fiberglass shell over it. this is just an idea that would look pretty awesome. the body wouldnt have to be very smooth because you could always sand it or use bondo. ill get back to you later on the clutch springs.

Yes this is sweet, however I can’t seem to find one. jombo’s idea has been as close to a body that will fit the car http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...p?&I=LXNZU2&P= however it’s just a little wide. The rear tires are 11” wide this body is 12”1/2 wide. What do you think?

Bigtreds,

I liked your idea so much I went out and bought a Cadillac Escalade body. I was going to hack off the lower rear end (from the bottom of the driver’s door back) and make a stretched box for the truck. However the cab would look dorky because it’s not wide enough. I also bought a 1/6 scale body, however it’s too wide, mostly at the front.

I am Aftershocked (joke) that on this World Wide Web I cannot find a 1/7 or 1/6 scale pro-stock body? I am serously thinking of just welding a cage for the truck and calling it a Dragster.

dominic magri,

Thanks for the input; however I don’t have that kind of time. Believe me, I have thought of building a vacuum former http://www.vacuumformerplans.blogspot.com and making my own body. Then again I really don’t have that kind of time.

Thanks!
