lst2 binding tranny?
i've put it all together and and found that the tires are not spinning freely. after checking the possibilities i found that the transmission is the issue. i've taken it apart and looked around and it seems fine to me. what could be causing this?

well possible two things ... make sure the forward and reverse servo is all the way either way and make sure the hi/lo selector is locked in in either hi or lo gear

RE: lst2 binding tranny?
yup i tried that as well, i even took the trans apart to see if anything was "out of place" it all looks fine to me, one thing i noticed when puting it all back together is if i don't tighten the screws that hold the trans case together, then the binding is not as bad....***?

I don't know if you've been to this site yet or not. It has a lot of pics and instructions and may shed some light on your problem. Here it is... http://www.fatbearscave.net/lst/tran.htm

RE: lst2 binding tranny?
grits, thanks for the link, however my tranny is brand new. it doesn't even have the 2-speed gears on it yet. also i understand fully how the tranny works (minus the binding part)
IL2mSturmovik, no, this is a stock lst2 tranny, but i'm going to do an FOC on it. i wanted to eliminate the binding so that i could have the stock tranny as a back up.

Now in your 1st thread you had stated "after you put it back together"
To properly help you I need more info.
What did you do to it, why did you open it, was it already dragging, etc etc.
I spent probably 24 hours of my time learning the LST2 tranny, and everything about it.
I suffered the same problem, (binding, but after I installed the FOC, putting all the shims back in the stock locations)
and as a result, I dissambled and reassembled my tranny probably 20 times.
Ended up being a combination of shimming and me tightening the tranny screws too much
They ONLY need to be snug, not wrenched tight!!
You should be able to grab the input shaft, and spin it with your fingers with minimal resistance, other than grease sticking inside it to the gears.
I was determined to get mine perfect, and I am confident I did, but hopefully my knowledge gained can help others

RE: lst2 binding tranny?
here's what i've been up to:
i'm buying all the parts for the LST2 to build one from scratch. i've got everything but the engine, 2-speed setup, pipe, fuel tank, electronics, and a body. basicaly a roller lst2. all the parts are brand new and were taken from parted lst2's on ebay. the tranny came built. when i got it i immediately slapped it on to the roller lst2, i gave it push to see it roll but it only moved and inch after i let go. pushing it some more i noticed a lot of noise from the tranny so i took the tranny out, split the case and looked around inside the tranny to see what's up. it didn't do me any good, all the gears were in great condition, it looked like the entire tranny was only spun a few times, the grease was still fresh. at this time having nowhere else to turn to, i turned to RCU

RE: lst2 binding tranny?
I think you should just put the FOC in it i had problems with mine all the time so i decided to put FOC in it and i have not had any problems at all, just a simple salution to a on going problem. I will say that the tranny in the lst and lst2 are a little tight and noisy...
