between a rock and a hard place...
ok guys i have a problem... i have a muggy but i stripp the ring gear and CB like every other gallon! [:@] i make sure the screws are all tight and i get them as tight as possible! but i still strip the gears... i do the paper trick with the gears everyother tank... i cant stop stripping gears!!! so i have made up my mind to tell the muggy... but i was wondering if an aftershock would be a fair trade for it.... and i was also wondering if u guys think i should just keep it and dump the money into a new ring gear, CB, motor mounts, and all new screws for them... any help is apreciated

i don't know much about losi trucks yet but from what i've seen building my lst2... i would say trade for an lst2. it seems like a very nice monster truck. my savy may have to move over to make room for my lst2.

You clutch bell HAS to be getting WAY to hot. OR get a one piece motor mount. Alot less flex, ALSO be sure your bearings are fine! This is definitely not a common problem. Don't start thinking owning a LST2 or aftershock will make life alot better.

Well, i have both an muggy and a aftershock, and i like the shock better stock... I have the same problem with my clutch bell stripping avery 1/2-3/4 gallons. Of course, i am running the stock tires, but i am running a vented 12 tooth cb. I am considering selling it or trading for a savage or lst2 i cant fix this problem asap. I'm going to order a set of truggy tires to see if that helps with the heat or something...

Sounds like your chassis is just flexing too much and changing the gear mesh. Have you tried the [link=http://www.losi.com/Products/Features.aspx?ProdId=LOSB5028]1 piece engine mount[/link]? I think that is supposed to help reduce chassis flex in that area.

Alright. I'm just thinking about selling my muggy and buying stuff for my aftershock. I'm going to go and do a really hard bashing session today, with like jumps with 10-20 feet of air and such... If the gears hold, and all the other tuff on it works well today, i'll keep it for a while longer. I'll report back when i'm done.

RE: between a rock and a hard place...
sry guys i was away for the weekend.... the truck is on RCU for sale now, if it doesnt sell/trade ill keep it.... and the one piece motor mount, im not sure if that would work with my spec 3 in there..... another thing im giong to do is go back to the stock tires, i think they are a little lighter than what i have on there now... so hopefully that will help.... man my mom is going to kill me lol.... this is what ill get...... one piece motor mount, vented 12t CB, stock ring gear.... and all new screws for the motor mount.... o yeah and when i had the front end apart on the muggy i noticed in the steering there are no bearings? i remember someone saying they stuck bearing in there and that got rid of ALOT of the play that the muggy has, and any muggy owner will admit there is so much play it isnt funny.... and now with the spec 3 it is really hard to control cause the play is so bad.... also i am running 30k in the center diff and the front stiill seems to unload, so what are u guys running... and i am running 7k front, and 5k rear.... let me know.... thnx

It will work lol. Just the pullstart backplate wont, but the rotostart backplate might. Preferably using a starterbox is better.

i made my one piece work with a roto start. i just cut the back off the mount. it worked awesome. it lowers center of gravity. you might consider going to a 13/48 gear ratio its awesome i haven't had to get clutch shoes in 2 gallons with hard running on a modded sts 30

RE: between a rock and a hard place...
another problem with the motor mount now that i think about it is that once you cut the back off you have to cut a hole in the chassis so the backplate wont hit the chassis it doesn't stick down its flush when you cut the hole or you can skip this and just shim the motor up to avoid cutting the hole or even cutting the one piece motor mount.
