Engine brace screws
I went to take out my engine brace (to finally install the dynamite one) and i broke one of my dynamite drivers. I got 2 of the screws out on top, and i stripped the other 2 on top. I haven't even tried the ones on the bottom...
I think i am going to go to home depot and get one of those screw extractor kits. Then i'm gunna order a new hudy driver (anyone know correct size for engine brace screws) and i'll order some new engine brace screws too. Any better ideas?
Also, i broke my stock exhaust hanger last night, so i'm gunna make a new one out of coat hanger wire. Good idea?
Thanks guys.
PS: I'm still gunna be bashing this weekend with the stock brace; i'll keep a lookout for any cracking. Is it okay to run like this?

RE: Engine brace screws
thatnot a bad idea for an exhaust hanger, it wont be as strong but shoudl work ok.
in my dads warhead evo, when he had 2 screw heads strip, we were too lazzy to get buy a screw extrsctor, so we hammered a slightly larger hex in, and it worked just fine. if it comes down to it, as a last resort you can try that.
when removing those screws, i do not use an allan key unless it fits perfect. if your allan key is slightly worn i would take a file and file the end down a little 1mm or 2, so you get to a new part of the key. and never use a ball driver.
hope that helps, let us know what you ended up dong to get them out.

RE: Engine brace screws
Heat, lots of heat. More..... more, that'll do it.
Hair dryer? HA!
Soldering iron? Ehh, if it's hotter than 40 watts and you stick it in the screw head for about 30 seconds.
Butane torch? Oh yea, Tim Taylor time! Just be careful you don't melt the tranny case. Like I've done that. Pfft.

i had the same problem. the loc-tite i use says it breaks down at +300 degrees. the sodering iron says it gets up to 720 degrees. i left the iron on the screw fro half and hour, the screw was maybe slightly warm.[&:] friggen iron, waste of money. don't ever use this "idea" it's useless!
i used a drill bit slighty smaller then the screws and drilled the top of the screws off. worked like a charm, the heads were cut clean and the mount popped right out.
